Did you all see the huge petwood Tony has been cutting on with his drag saw? It finally cut through, what an amazing slice of petwood!!!! He was showing the progress everyday on F/B... Yes I have a picture of it but don't have the cable handy to get the pic off my phone.

Isn't it amazing! But then there is Tucson...some shows start as early as Jan. 29th. Just in case you need an excuse to by stone...a little extra weight might help with the slick roads on the way back home. I decided I'm not going home! Sweet! Then I’ll move into your lap shop.

I just want to know who’s who? I think that may be The Rock on the left and who knew there was a McDonalds at Quartzite.

I've been there many times. 3. No way would any restaurant in Q be closed for remodeling during the Powwow. 4. That's not an Arizona sky in January. 5. Photo taken on May 18, 2011, Flickr account of Phil G (Who?) 6. Those are not RTHlings. 7. They need to get and use a dictionary.

Don't forget the Love's BBQ!
But don't know that you really need the restaurants, there are so many places to get food there.

That is an oft used-and -abused picher on a different site that I lurk at.

You know Bill, you would be out socializing with the masses and living it up at the rock show.

Vince and I made it here about 1:00 this afternoon. We decided to hit the Pow Wow today and do Desert Gardens tomorrow. There weren't a lot of people walking around at the Pow Wow, which was kind of strange.
We already managed to find a few rocks we really liked and had to buy. First up was immediately upon walking in. The Gem Shop's booth was right there and I spotted green Imperial Jasper right off the bat. Called Vince over to see it and soon 3 nice chunks were in our bag. Next up was a nice thick slab of Koroit that we'll probably get 3 slabs out of and a small slab Vince liked at an Aussie's booth. Lastly we stopped by Christopher Anthony's booth. He and Rodney had just dug some AZ Shattuckite last week and it is awesome material! Thank you christopherl1234! 3 more nice chunks in the backpack.
That took us close to closing time, so we took off to check in at the Best Western and are ensconced in our room. Tomorrow we will be prowling Desert Gardens and attending Tony's BBQ. Can't wait!

Good for you! Had we made it out there, I'd have been visiting the Aussies in DG to pick up more mookaite for tumbling. Based upon what we saw a couple years ago, they're probably already breaking down and looking to go to Tucson.

Good point aDave. They've still been there during Pow-Wow weekend when we've been here before, but have been getting ready to leave.
We're really okay with whatever we find during this weekend, 'cuz we'll just have to make sure it doesn't get lost in the pile when we get back home. We've been looking forward more to hangin' out at Tony's tonight than anything else. During our first trip here all the RTHlings were so friendly that we've never forgotten it.

A few pictures from the BBQ:

The chow line:
Christopher christopherl1234 and his wife and kids were there, as well as Brian beefjello and Rodney were also there, but I was too busy yakking and forgot to take pictures.
We had a great time and met a bunch of great folks! Now we are extremely tired and going to crash. Tomorrow I'll put up pics of our haul (we went a little overboard) when we get home and unpacked.
Thanks again to Tony catmandewe and Chris for putting on such a great event and all the work that goes into it!
