Took a trip up to the Ishpeming MI rock show over the weekend to see some of our copper country friends . The Ishpeming rock club has a field trip on Sunday to the Kona Dolomite quarry also which we also took in . Figured we better get some pink rocks before Jugglerguy got all the good stuff . Rob , if ya get up there , see if you can check out the south side of the road . The club was all excited because they had access there for the first time ever . Lot of interesting colors and patterned rocks over there . We did go on the north side also where mostly pinks are . Field trip was $10 a piece , not bad considering we could take as much as we could haul (hate it when that happens) . Tires were squatting when we left . Anyway , here is a couple pics of our haul . We bought these two at the show , in case we didn't find anything at the quarry . This is what we brought home , The big one with all the veins weighs in at about 30 pounds , Oh yeah , also went to one waterfall , Thanks for takin a look

That is one awesome haul! The two you bought are pretty awesome, too.
My BIL has family in Ishpeming. Next time they go up there to visit, I'm gonna make them get me some rocks!

Those to you bought are really nice. Harder to tell with the others, but with that much, you probably have plenty of nice ones. I didn’t get to the quarry this year. I planned to, but my 89 year old mother broke her hip while we were in town, so we spent most of our time in the hospital. I did get out with my son for a couple of hikes though. I hiked up Dead River Falls with him for the first time.

I really tried to refrain from getting too many rocks , sometimes self control goes right out the window . One of the bought rocks has a few fractures so the guy let us have it for a buck , other one was 5 bucks . Had to make up for the expense at the quarry . Tell your BIL to take a truck when they go up there , we left enough .

I'm sure there is a few junk rocks in the pile . We only had a short tine to pick so I was piling them up to be sorted before loading . Then just tossed them all in and figured on having some pink yard rocks in the end . The waterfall shown is Warner Falls , on the south end of Palmer right along the highway . Quick and easy to see . There is a bunch of falls in the area but we didn't have the time on this trip . Plan to do the Dead River falls in the future , along with some of the others .

Canyon Falls about halfway between Marquette and Houghton is one of my favorite places. I think I mentioned that before. I'll have to check out Warner Falls sometime. I love waterfalls.

We went to Canyon about 6 or 7 years ago on the way to L'Anse . Really cool stuff to see on the way into the falls too . We didn't go to the 2 falls downstream though , so don't know how they look . L'Anse has some really nice falls right in town on the Falls River . Check out the book "A guide to 199 Michigan Waterfalls" . Very good directions and descriptions , very helpful if ya don't want to look at rapids .

If you did borrow the picture it doesn't mean that it didn't happen, just may have happened to someone else...lol

Waterfalling is just our fancy way of saying we went in search of , found , and enjoyed the natural beauty of waterfalls . It was hot enough to play in this one , but short of time as usual . Suppose you desert dwellers don't see many falls huh ?
