Glad to know you did make the haul. Don't know what waterfalling is but I assume it is playing in waterfalls which sounds cool and fun. Waterfalling is just our fancy way of saying we went in search of , found , and enjoyed the natural beauty of waterfalls . It was hot enough to play in this one , but short of time as usual . Suppose you desert dwellers don't see many falls huh ? No, not many falls here although there are some north of here that are only a short drive away. It is hot enough here to play in one though. Actually we had falls here but that was when it was flooding from several downpours last year and the "falls" were only a few inches so nothing dramatic...lol.

Canyon Falls about halfway between Marquette and Houghton is one of my favorite places. I think I mentioned that before. I'll have to check out Warner Falls sometime. I love waterfalls. We went to Canyon about 6 or 7 years ago on the way to L'Anse . Really cool stuff to see on the way into the falls too . We didn't go to the 2 falls downstream though , so don't know how they look . L'Anse has some really nice falls right in town on the Falls River . Check out the book "A guide to 199 Michigan Waterfalls" . Very good directions and descriptions , very helpful if ya don't want to look at rapids . I got that book today. It looks great. I got a nice used copy for something like $6. Thanks for the good recommendation.

I was a recipient of some of the Konamite slabs. They are awesome. A new material for me to discover and learn from. Thank you wigglinrocks

When ya get bored , swing on up and we'll take ya on a waterfall tour . Have been to 80 something named falls in the UP , bunch here in WI and quite a few in MN .

It will be a standing invitation when ya get yourself unbroke . Cost to see them is gas money . We have taken lots of people on day trips waterfalling and get lots of "when can we go again" .

We did a self made waterfall tour in the 1990's with a foreign exchange student. There are so many hidden falls along the South Shore of Superior.

[/quote] Oh my that looks so inviting. I would be in heaven right now because is sure is dry and hot hot hot here in Aridzona. I know, it's supposed to be dry, but monsoon season here we are supposed to get rain and so far we haven't gotten much at all. I know there are waterfalls around in Arizona but then again takes gas money plus waterfalls are not as cool when it's over 100 degrees outside. Thanks for the standing invitation. Hope I can take you up on it sometime.

I like taking others to see some of the falls . Nice to revisit some of them , knowing where they are instead of trying to find them . Some of the ones we went to I wouldn't go back to , much less take anyone else to them . Nice to take in 6-8 of the easy ones in a day trip .

Dry heat, yeah right, you bet my lily white butt it's dry when you're sweating your butt off especially when the hot wind comes across the desert bringing with it a big dust devil. Oh yeah it's a dry heat...lol.

My daughter loved it. At times it was 105+, but it did not bother us. Even in Chinle, where we lived, the temps would get over 100. To me it was comparable to a humid day in WI with temps in the 80's. The dust storms were a different matter. I got caught outside in several walking the 400 yards home from work. My Navajo co-workers laughed at me when I pulled my shirt up over my mouth/nose so I could breathe. I compare being caught in an AZ dust storm to having your whole body sand blasted. I was pretty sore after that and learned my lesson. After that, I always had a bandanna with me in the summer to cover my face.

I recognize that falls, but do not remember where it is. After the cold August here, I am not looking forward to Winter.

I recognize that falls, but do not remember where it is. After the cold August here, I am not looking forward to Winter. The second pic is Agate Falls , southeast of Bruce Crossing MI . First pic is Upper Bond Falls and is southwest of Agate Falls . Third pic is of course my winter wonderland , looking down my driveway . The long range weather forecast predicts winter to return this year again . Dang the bad luck .

So does the second picture ;-) I don't envy you the cold and snow piling up although from time to time I do miss snow. I was told if I missed it I should go up north to Flagstaff in the winter but I decided I didn't miss it that much...lol. I saw the weather forecast too....lol. yep, winter will come again this year. Although they did forecast a good monsoon season here and we still haven't had much rain at all so maybe they are wrong about winter too? One could hope, right?

Funny, we moved from WI too, although I moved to California then Texas because of an ex husband in the military. I agree dust storms are bad, especially when the weather people call them Haboobs. I know funny name for sure. I've thankfully never been caught out in one but knock on wood it won't happen ever. I actually experienced worse dust storms in Egypt. There they last longer and are considered Kamsin (English transliteration for Arabic name) because of the hot wind that carries the sand with it. I was cooped up indoors all day one time when we got a Kamsin. We had to stuff damp towels at the bottom of doors and on the window sills to keep the sand out. The light outside was an eerie shade of dirty yellow orange and the wind howled against the house. Not fun at all.
