So the Nebraska State Gemstone is the Nebraska Blue Agate. Not very exciting, but it is what it is. Anyway, I got to go out last Saturday and didn't really have much luck with Fairburns so I picked up some of it- at least I'm 99% sure that's what I picked up, I could be off. I'm going to try and cab some and see how they turn out. Here's a group shot of a few that I collected, plus a couple of closeups of my favorites. Thanks for looking.

I bet those are going to be awesome. Hopefully. I started grinding on one at lunch and they seem fairly stable. I've left tons laying on the prairies with nicer banding- it's all over the place- but I think that if these turn out well I may start picking some more up.

I guess when you have fairburns to hunt, those are easier to pass up lol. I dont think I'd be able to leave one behind! Look forward to seeing how they turn out!

I think it's because they're so common- but I really do like the patterns.

I would pick many of them up if I could. They are beautiful.

Did you just call those not very exciting? Haha, that just made me chuckle out loud... Compared to some of the stuff I see on here, I meant. But I started grinding on one last night and I believe I'm changing my mind. I'm thinking about concentrating on cabbing the unique things that I find around here for awhile, like Tee Pees and these, maybe a Fairburn or two. So many rocks and so little time, though!

I would pick many of them up if I could. They are beautiful. I would definitely need more than one backpack- they're literally everywhere where we hunt. Some have reds and oranges- I believe I have some in my garage pile of rocks. I'll try and find them so I can post a few pics.

Finished cabbing this one (I guess), and when I looked at the picture I noticed something a little ironic. Anyone else see a black cat laying on a blanket? I really must be losing it.

I had seen something up above the cat, but durned if I could tell what it is. But I believe you are right! The more I look at it, I believe it is a dog! Sitting on the ground, short tail pointing to the right, head facing left, head tipped down. Terrier-type hairy/fuzzy ears pointing back up and to the right, up above that little tail. Black nose close to the center of the stone, toward the left side of the dog's body. Eyes are present, but not real solid looking.
It helps to look at the largest pic, and open it in a new window. Them you can zoom the whole image larger.
Yep, it's a dog, alright.

I just see a nice rock. Joking. I see the dog and cat. Those rocks are going to polish up nicely. If they are so common, I bet you get some offers to trade.
