Had an open barrel while waiting for my more stubborn Jaspers to finish stage one (9 weeks as of now) Quick little tumble. 10 days in rotary with a clean-out after 5 days. Then over to the Lot-O where I did 4 days 220 with a cleanout, then 2 days each 500, 1000, and 1500 AO. Got the shine I wanted! And the raw material

Those turned out great! Lots of snowflakes in most of those.

Now I am kicking myself. I think I saw this kind of rock when I was in British Columbia and didn't collect a bunch of it. I'd thank you for sharing your excellent results, but I cannot see thru my own tears. ;-)

Quick question: I've been trying obsidian myself from some similar locales, but I am still relatively new to the Lot-O tumbler. How much grit and water are you using in each stage? I seem to have hit/miss luck with it.

Super nice and shiny. I have a rock that looks like those, but mine has big blotches of white rather than snowflakes. Would that still be considered snowflake obsidian? Oh and I found it in New Jersey along the Delaware river. Not sure where snowflake obsidian comes from.
