Pulled out some Lavic that I picked up in April on that trip with Scott, Norm and James. took a few pictures. A random Botswana that wound up in this batch.
And a couple of local finds.
Thanks for looking.

Nice.......Lavic.......one of my favorites..........With a little more effort and refinement, those pieces could be even better than they are now (pits and shine). It takes a little more prep effort (if hand disc shaping) and a little longer rough grinding 1st stage (if rotary), but the pre & polishing cycles are no different than any hard jasper, it helps if you have a vibe for that aspect..... but it's worth it IMHO........!
In the beginning, It took me three 5lb pound batches before I started understanding that particular rocks processing needs. With a little help from Jean (rockpickerforever), and eliminating the rough 60/90 1st stage rotary all together........just hand shaping with 60 & 90 diamond discs, then 120/220, 500, pre-polish and Cerium Oxide polish in a bowl vibe, I get an 85% success rate with a very nice pit and fracture free deep gloss. They'res always going to be a little shrinkage and throw backs with this material..........but all those 5lb loads I started with have since been re-worked and turned out very well..........
Seems you been at this rock art thing for awhile, but if you'd like a few tips on Lavic, let me know.............just a thought.
