Okay - if I got up at 5:00 AM on a Saturday and am using the word "fun", there must have been good rocks at the sale. There were, and we were the first ones there. We got just over 90 lbs, including Royal Sahara, Palm Wood, Ocean Jasper, and even five little pieces of Morrisonite. The cardboard background is 24 x 38".
The most enjoyable part for me was getting to watch Robin "power shopping" through a two-car garage full of rough... .

Sounds like a great sale. Well worth a 5:00 AM Saturday. Some great looking material there.

Rock sales are fun, no matter the time!
Good looking pile.

A rock sale? I feel like I’m in another country here on the east coast lol. The only thing you find here in south Jersey is people possibly selling some landscape rocks. Yep, Jersey sucks!!!
Man, I’d go nuts at a sale like that. Great looking stuff.

Man, I’d go nuts at a sale like that. Great looking stuff. I had to control myself. I left a lot of good stuff there for the non-early birds. There were lots of bags full of very nice, large Bots and Lakers, a box of Bloody Basin (we just bought a lone chunk cuz it was really nice) and a bunch of other stuff that I can't remember now.

Very cool. I've only been to a few and there's always so many rocks that I would love to take home... Great score!

Looking forward to seeing them slabbed.

Being able to step out your door and pick up decent rocks is just about obscene and rocks sales are pure decadence. The shame!

Nice haul. I hope that OJ turns out nice. Me too! I was thinking about you when I grabbed that.
Vince hasn't slabbed any of it up yet, but soon. He's slicing the Texas palmwood right now.

Ok now, you know you'll have to post pics when he cuts into it.

I thought about you, too, rockjunquie, when Robin showed me the OJ she found in bags. One bag was a slightly better grade than the other, but since we had no OJ rough at home it was all good. The bigger single piece of OJ is mostly quartz with druze pockets. Some orbs, but it's gonna' be "different" when slabbed.
The Leopardskin was a dud. Probably would be okay for tumbling smalls, but we don't tumble. The palm wood (Texas, I think) looks great so far. It should - it was the most expensive piece in the lot. A chunk each of Amethyst Lace and Bloody Basin were the only other larger slabbers we got.

I guess you guys know me and OJ by now. LOL! I'm trying to cab tomorrow and picked out a couple of OJ to put in the cue.

That's the BEST kind of 'garage' sale! The Royal Sahara is nice. Yes, love to see the slabs too!

Hearing about the sale from Robin made us want to move our flight home back by a day, now I'm really wishing we had. Really like the Royal Sahara.
