I recently bought an old 20in rose branded rociprolap. I ordered parts from Covington to get it back to an operating condition. The problem I see is that when I have one steel disc and two nylon bearings in each well the plate does not rest flush on the nylon ball bearings. If I attempt to run it like this the rociprolap starts walking immediately. Two discs in each well solves this problem and it seems to run smooth. Is this normal for the old rose models? If anyone can offer insight I would appreciate it.

I@garnetfan I have a reciprolap and the top plate should sit equally on both balls. Is there something preventing the plate from going all the way down so it rests on all 6 ball evenly. I have never had it walk across the floor. Have you leveled the bottom feet? I really have had no problems it just works.

I@garnetfan I have a reciprolap and the top plate should sit equally on both balls. Is there something preventing the plate from going all the way down so it rests on all 6 ball evenly. I have never had it walk across the floor. Have you leveled the bottom feet? I really have had no problems it just works. When only using one steel disk per well there is a gap between the wear ring on the underside of the plate and top of the nylon ball bearings. The walking occurs because the plate is slung around with minimal resistance since it does not evenly contact the nylon bearings to add friction and slow the machine (just an educated guess). I do not operate it in this condition. Two steel disks in each well closes the gap and the plate rests perfectly on the nylon bearings, and the lap runs smoothly like this. I replaced the plate bearing and cleaned everything when I first bought it so there is nothing, that I can tell, that is preventingthe plate from resting fully on the shaft. Everthing I have read calls for one disk per well which is why I am confused by the gap when mine is set up with one disk per well.

I will go down tomorrow and see if it is one disk or two. I have not used in a while.
