RickB - those pics of the tied shells are so awesome! Is that you handiwork, or did you happen upon it? stephan - I had never heard of fingered citron until you posted that! I know one can (thanks to Google), but do you personally use that in any edible way? amygdule - I'll echo what rockjunquie said with regards to your eye for pictures. You really do take some stunningly beautiful shots!

I showed that picture to my wife and she thought it looked like a claw...I told her she nailed it! If you can, I'd love to see some pics of that once it's candied, if you think about it. And amygdule - I showed my wife your recent pics of the beach - she said they're absolutely beautiful!

Just in case anyone is curious about my new avatar - the derpy looking dog face - I wanted to show the whole photo. The photo is from around two years ago and the derpy dog is our Belgian malinois Roxy, and the German Shepherd is my son's dog Wilson. We rescued Roxy when she was about 1.5 years old after she was picked up as a street stray. She is the most gentle, sweet, and adorable little dog but she is a seriously alpha female living in an oppressed state with our other 110lb alpha dog Charley. So anyway, she takes it out on most any other bigger dog she catches up with We had to curtail our favorite off-leash activities after a couple of incidents where she aggressively put bigger dogs on the ground because they tried to alpha her. So, with that back story out of the way, Wilson who is still a big puppy in this photo is the only big dog outside of Charley who she puts up with. She absolutely loves Wilson and they play hard every chance we can get them together. It's probably not what actually happened but this photo makes us laugh because she seems completely smitten and dorky around him.

Lots of shells and people tie them on using long round blades of grass from in the dunes. I've been beach combing looking for fossils and shells, also doing some fishing around low tide in the inlet. Have caught 11 spotted sea trout this week. Fossils have been very hard to find this trip but will post photos of a few soon.

We had a family dog when I was a kid who would smile whenever my mom or dad would come home. She'd look out the kitchen window, tail wagging a mile a minute and smiling like crazy. In between smiling, she'd be sneezing she was so excited.
It gives me good memories.

Another view of the Carnelian. That's a beauty! Nice and transparent with beautiful color saturation.

How many rocks do I have to look at ? Not Enough !!! Seeing all those rocks, I think at some point I'd reach sensory overload, seize up, and fall over like those fainting goats!

I noticed this cloud was just folding into itself. Within moments, it was gone.

Anyone notice the low temps forecasted for Thursday and Friday? That's air temp...not including wind chill. I brought the tumblers inside a couple days ago and I brought the slant cabber in today...at the prompting of my wife. The tumblers are in the closet behind the slant cabber there. Oh. And tonight was breakfast night. MsAli - I knew we'd have biscuits and gravy one day this week! LOL
