Not a rock, but I'll take it. Got a good deal ($10) on another green oil lamp (third in line) this morning at the local flea market. Like rocks, some glass lamps/lanterns around the house, in the shed and attic. Obsessive? Probably. RickB

Didn't know where to put this but it made my day. I had talked to roy about getting this as soon as he posted it, then I was gone for a week. I didn't know that he had sent it yet, it was waiting for me when I got back. Turkish Rainforest Opal, this is the biggest chunk. I can't wait to work this stuff.

amygdule - Love that shot of the driftwood. I kept telling my wife we need something like an old weathered stump that looks like it was driftwood to put in the landscape rock. Of course if I can keep finding petrified wood, I'll just go that route! LOL

It's common to see them along the coastline during the winter when the sand gets stripped off of the beach. www.roadtripsforfamilies.com/oregon-coast-neskowin-beach-ghost-forest/

To think of all the things that occurred during the time that particular tree existed...and then to think there's a 5,000+ year old tree in California, which is supposedly the oldest tree in the world. The amount of human upheaval that has occurred during that tree's lifespan...and yet it ignored it all and stood strong. Like a rock! (Wait...no...like a tree I guess! )

What a great spot!!! Is it always so vacant? The islands down there are beautiful. I've been to several. Have you been to Cumberland Island in Georgia?

It's hard to get a spot there. Must have been a Sunday afternoon when the photo was taken. There are many more sites through the trees in the photo and another part of the campground is inland off the causeway. We're fixing to get the site on the right where the red truck is. Haven't been to Cumberland Island but have been to Jekyll Island and St. Simons island.
