Vince noticed this guy in our yard just a little while ago. Have never seen one here before. Wonder where it came from.
My wife said you should keep it! LOL She used to have three peacocks and two peahens on their farm when she was growing up. They make GREAT "watchdogs"... She said it looks like he's lost all his tail-feathers but said they'll come back in the Spring.

We're surrounded by cows, horses, goats, sheep and every domesticated type of fowl there is, but I've never seen this guy around before.
Good to know his tail will grow back. I was just asking Vince about that. "Where's his tail?" "Are we sure this is a male"? LOL! I hope he comes back again. They're pretty birds.

They really are beautiful! Here's what they sound like. I'm surprised if he's from somewhere close, you haven't heard him before. It's a very distinctive call. And you'll hear why they make great watchdogs...

And you'll hear why they make great watchdogs... I've heard them before. I rather listen to that than the damn roosters that live behind us. Especially at 3:00 a.m. They have some peacocks at the small zoo in Prescott and they walk around wherever they want. I would think we would be too far for them to get here, though.

We had 4 of them roost in a pine tree behind the house for most of one year. We woke up at 5 A.M. every day whether we wanted to or not. Don't know where they came from or where they all went; one got run over on the road. Actually missed them for quite a while.

hummingbirdstones. We had peacocks prancing around the neighborhood in Southern California. Voice was grating, but so pretty! Lucky to see them.

My daughter made the perfect Birthday cake for me. An Amethyst Crystal cake. The rest was Oreo Cookie cake with added cream cheese. Nummy.

Some rocks that I was looking at today 02/20/2021 I love love love this picture!!! I think the fossils are amazing tucked in there with the other beach finds! My daughter made the perfect Birthday cake for me. An Amethyst Crystal cake. The rest was Oreo Cookie cake with added cream cheese. Nummy. I showed this picture to my wife and she didn't realize it was a cake at first...and to be honest, I didn't realize it at first either! Kudos to your daughter! (And Happy Birthday too!)

Fantastic picture Stephan! My neighbor has a bee hive. Every time we get one of our rollercoaster warm days during the winter, I see a few flying around my yard. It always makes me nervous that it'll kill a few too many off when they "wake up" during winter...

It always makes me nervous that it'll kill a few too many off when they "wake up" during winter... Thanks, Jason. Bees are pretty well able to survive the cold. As long as they can make it back to the hive, and the keeper has left them enough honey, they can actually generate quite a bit of heat by shivering. Honeybees in Japan have actually learned to use this trait to defend themselves against giant (“murder”) hornets by mobbing them, and heating them to death:
