Right on James plant alkaloids and insect predator/Pollinators is complex symbiosis interesting read I’m currently perusing is “This Is Your Mind On Plants" by Michael Pollan Opium Caffeine Mescaline Worth a perusal Yep got it that I only zoom Not a telephoto rig & Lichen might be a better description on those Super rocks Thanks! A book written about tickling brain receptors and opening the valve to the endorphins ! Taboo perhaps due to addictive tendencies ? What goes up, must come down, spinnin wheels got to go round.... (check out the Barbara Eden version, many more views and some seemingly double jointed moves) Rocks and lichens seem to be good buddies. Could it be ?

OK Ed, being an easterner I must ask if these beautiful Tiffany Hills are(aprox.) 20 or 100 or 200 or more feet tall ? 100-500-5000 feet away ? It is better to ask distances before hiking to western mountains/hills/geologic features because distance and size are so difficult to judge. What seems a mile away may be 10 miles !

So dragonflies commonly eat their weight in 30 minutes. I watched this guy, he flies about 20 feet out and back and has his next winged termite. 20 seconds, easy meal... It takes about 3-5 minutes for him to devour it and lets me get closer when immersed in his meal. They are territorial and often return to the same perch.

Yo James ! Those Buttes are only about 300 yards away They are probably 200 feet tall Lots of wind erosion over the eons To get added height I stood on 3 foot rock which made mohs about 7 feet high, I added stability to the camera by resting it on the top my head. Probably the least stable place So very little wide zoom Its funny how picture opportunities crop up. Mention moss. Boom there it is on Super rocks Dragon flies ate everywhere now Tried shooting these fluttering aerial re-fuelers w/ recent posts in mind. Love indeed Luckily no Grackles were about...

We can gauge distance to mountains by the haze level over distance due to the enchanted humidity. Glad you found mohstability to click one off. There must be water fairly close by if the mosquito hawks are flittering around. There is a type bird that specifically hunts dragon flies, not sure his territory. The storm looks tropical in nature. Some serious wind...
