I really dislike fishers. Well, they are the only animal that eats porcupines - which can become serious killers of trees around here when the fishers disappear - as well as packrats. I wouldn't mind if more fishers were shipped west if you don't want them IN WI, they are known for killing calves and foals. One (or more) killed most of my barn cats and all my white doves (homing pigeons). The same one(s) killed all the neighbors chickens within a couple miles of me. Over 150 chickens were killed among 4 residences. Everyone was happy when two fishers were seen dead on the road. Have not had any around here since.

Interesting They will kill cats and birds but Calves & foals? I am not buying that. That would be a rare thing for a fisher to take being they prefer a little smaller animals

When I lived in NW WI, there were huge fishers. I had their tracks identified. Some were estimated to be about 4' in length. Trail/security cameras of others captured them killing foals and calves. Mostly young ones. Not on my property, but theirs.
I was warned of the potential of having foals killed by locals and authorities. A neighbor a few miles from me had a new born calf killed by a fisher. Caught on trail cam. The ones on trail cams and found dead by where I now live were just under 3' in length.

My cousin in Maine has them. She calls them something else- I forget- something cat or cat something. Anyway, she hates them and keeps a shotgun by the back door for them. I didn't know know what they were, so I looked it up. Yeah, I'd kill it, too. Nasty little buggers.

If you've ever napped next to a pug, you'd know they're the only thing that makes Sunday afternoon naps even better. (We're ridiculous pug parents. He sleeps in bed with us every night)
