MsAli , that's true it's been a while since I've seen any of it! I think the last time we had significant snow accumulation here was about 7 years ago. It can be very pretty and very fun to play in. Looks like we have more on the way

fernwood - AJ is such a cute little guy!! Thanks. He is at that cute age now. Exploring everything and charming everyone. As “auntie” to many a little guy, I can say that the cute age will last for quite a while! But perhaps I’m biased because I don’t see all the tantrums and melt downs

It's not quite spring yet, but I understand Mother Nature does not believe in calendars, lol. Seventy seven degrees on my patio, and many flowers blooming right now. Haven't yet taken a pic of it, but the Orchid tree in my front yard is budding new leaves, after being nekkid for the last couple of months. Just a few in the yard.
Forget the name of the red/orange and yellow flowers, will have to look them up again. I know they are from South Africa, I think they are called some kind of lily.
Buds before opening
Aloe
Just sharing a little bit of Spring on this Ash Wednesday.
Jean
Edited to add:
The name of this plant is Chasmanthe bicolor, it is naturalized in California. It is a species of flowering plants in the Iris family which is known by the common name African flag, AKA Cobralily. It is endemic to the Cape Province in South Africa.
These came from my late MIL's house more than ten years ago. They grow from corms, like a gladiola, and require minimal care. I occasionally water only when it is exceptionally dry. They propagate quite easily from seed. I cut the spent flower stalks off before the orange seeds can germinate all over the yard.
Don't know the name of the aloe, but it and the Chasmanthe are much visited by hummingbirds. In it's native Africa, the Chasmanthe is pollinated by sunbirds.

Well those pics make me long for spring. Nice blooms rockpickerforever! We haven’t got the lilies going yet at our new place. Been watering the kids instead of the lilies. Thanks for the snaps

You're welcome. Just noticed more daffodils and freesias have started blooming, too. The paperwhites were done some time ago. Weather guessers are saying temps will be in the mid 80s tomorrow. We shall see... knave

We took the kids tubing today. A special treat after a major toy room cleaning. Hop in a tube and ride along. And you can thank RocksInNJ, he urged me to do it until I caved. Lol!

My 10 year old daughters night stand. She is working on the two blue pendants. She did the saw and wheel work, I put the holes in, those $.17 drill bits work great!

Party time Friday/Saturday. The whole family came out Saturday. Actually is was 4 brothers, each has 4 to 5 kids !! I rode kids around on ATV's half the day. Sent them home with tumbles of course. Saturday was an easier day. Half a dozen of the worker's kids came out. Friday. I had to pick up the materials. Big loads. Good thing I have three trailers.

Tropical plants in S Cali and dead cold Minnesota snow winter all on same page same week. Like a triangle running from S. Cali up to N. central and down to southeast US. Why can't they all be connected by a one hour high speed train ride ?

That will be a very nice deck jamesp! I could bring Riley down once it’s done to give it the ultimate bounce test.

That will be a very nice deck jamesp! I could bring Riley down once it’s done to give it the ultimate bounce test. Thanks Evan. Due to the better view off of the deck we may just add on to the house in the back and use the steel building added last year for parking cars and vehicles. It is strange how a dog can trot across the deck and make it bounce. Something about their rhythm. The old deck was 34 years old. Made out of 2x10 joists on 16" centers. This one is 2x12's on 12" centers. Should be rigid. Maybe Riley would be the ultimate test. Should be ready for him soon.

2” x 12” - 12” OC! That’s a deck! You could host a party for young elephants, around a full-weight 60” Altlanta Fire Pit on that platform. Is this a deck or a SpaceX launch pad? lol

Ah, that don’t mean shit! Every deck collapse you see, it’s the ledger connection to the house that fails. Need grade 8++ lag bolts these days w/42% obesity. All them young elephants is bigger’n they used to be.
