On this glass tumble I cut most of them to shape with a tile saw and shaped the edges with the tile saw as well. I spent a fair amount of time shaping the edges and now I'm wondering if it was a waste of time given that glass is soft and rough tumbling might shape the edges just as fast? Do any of you glass tumblers do what I did or do you just cut to shape and throw them in the rotary and let the tumbling action take care of the edges? Also if I'm drilling holes It makes sense (to me) to drill before rough tumbling so the hole edges are smoother after final polish? Am I missing anything?. Any/all input welcome...

It was very obvious to me that you had pre-shaped. They look like perfect pendant shapes. Oh yes, that is time well spent. Saw and shape when working with vases. Leave the hammer on the shelf.
I prefer to drill the holes prior to tumbling. Make sure you account for edge reduction. Ha. I prefer to but rarely drill because of shear laziness. If selling/gifting the holes are sure nice to have.
I even built an 8 inch lap to ease shaping glass and it was my best move. I actually enjoy the shaping part now. But a tile saw does a great job on glass too.

Truly impressed. I must try this glass thing!!!
Question- was that just a normal beer bottle? I have a restaurant so I am privy to a wild selection of booze bottles. Can these be tumbled?

Can these be tumbled? lancemountain Sorry just saw this...Yup, normal beer bottle. I was concerned they were too thin but obviously they survived. An unlimited source! I see no reason the colored liquor/wine bottles wouldn't tumble OK. I'll be trying them as I come across them ( without creating bad habits)
