Please excuse the ignorance. There is a Cave Dweller designation here, what is the meaning? Is it charter members? Industry professionals? Rock experts from the Stone Age who time-traveled to enlighten the modern pretty rock finder?

knave, a little info for you. This from post Tommy made last May: The Cave Dweller's group is a voluntary user group that becomes available to members upon reaching 250 posts. You're almost there which could be a blessing or a curse . After reaching 250 posts and (again, voluntarily) joining the Cave Dwellers group the member has access to a previously unseen area of the forum called The Cave. It's basically a chit chat area where polarizing subjects are allowed like politics and religion. The Cave was created as a way to solve a problem we were having, to get polarizing subjects out of the Life In General off-topic area, and out of the eyes of newcomers to the forum. It also stops polarizing threads and posts from popping up in members "recent threads" etc. unless they have joined the Cave Dwellers group. Then there is this from the home page where the "boards" are listed: New Posts The Cave, Off-Topic Area To gain access to The Cave, visit the "Groups" tab in your profile and join the "Cave Dwellers" member group. By entering you understand that polarizing subjects are discussed here and agree to keep your PG-13 posts respectful, even when opinions and beliefs differ. Access to The Cave can be revoked by staff at any time. Upon joining, threads and posts contained herein will appear in your "recents" feeds. You may leave the group at any time. Looks like you have a few more posts before you reach the magic number of 250 and you can join, should you wish.

The Cave is a separate area for discussing non-topic subjects that can be controversial. Tommy made the cave so folks that would rather not be subjected to those topics could avoid them. Anyone can join the cave and leave it at any time. It's under the Groups tab in your Profile.
ETA: Jean, you beat me to it again! LOL!

rockpickerforever Thank you for the info. That makes sense. At another forum there is an “underground” area available after 1000 posts, hidden from search engines and stuff.
