Wow what an awesome report. I seriously need to hire you to research my area lol. I try but can never find much of anything. Love seeing the rough and finished products. Glad you were able to get a nice haul and stay safe. Thanks again for sharing. It was a fun read.

Thanks Victor. I like the used paint can idea. I shouldn't have any of the difficulties that I currently have with Glass and the lids. Sometime the Epoxy likes to seal the lid to the jar. And the paint can idea would solve that.
I never thought about a pressure cooker either. I was looking up those used medical ones found in Dentist offices, with the accompanying container (a kit). But they are a bit expensive. I think I just want to hook up a cheepo vacuum pump (like the kind you bleed brakes with), and glue it real good to a lid (like the paint can). Should be a real nice solution, and cheap.
I was originally thinking glass or plastics, so I could see the air bubbles escape from the rocks. I am not getting any of that much right now, like I should. Therefore, just using 330 + Acetone does not get it done.
In order for the thing to work, you need pressure, possibly heat, and to push all the air out of the rocks, replacing with those bubbles with the resin mix.
I don't want to deviate this post any longer though, because there are dozens of other better posts on the RTH that I have foune for stabilizing rocks.
Thank you.

Do you have any close up photos of the Dioptase? and did you find any with clear crystal structure?

I almost missed this most excellent trip report. Love your dialog! I got a really good feel for what you were doing. Your cabs are really nice, too!

What I am finding and calling Dioptase looks a lot like Malachite to me. But I am being informed by an authority that it is in face Dioptase mostly. One of the pendants in the main post is Dioptase and Cuprite (brown)
Here is a piece which is mixed with Calcite.
Again, looks a lot like Malachite to me, but I am being told that it is not.

Top notch report. Don’t blame you for not going into those adits they look sketchy. Looks like you don’t need to anyways with the sweet stuff your finding in the dumps. Stay safe out there.

Cheep Vacuum Setup - Back in the day I did a lot of vacuum casting using empty Propane cylinders. Open the valve, heat the cylinder to expel the air, close the valve until ready to use.
