With all the talk of Heron's being friendly I’m starting to feel bad that I didn't feed that bird But I’m not sure that why it showed up Cause after I took a few snap shots a group of people showed up on the ridge behind me, about 10 feet away, and also, started also taking pictures. That when that bird flew…

That was a very calm heron to even let one person be around. Great photos! When I saw your title, I thought: " A hot rock, a horse, a heron, and a saguaro went into a bar..." was wondering what possibly could be the punch line

And finally a barrel strolled in the bar & said
Let the good times roll That ends my images from Salt River tour …mostly I took 68 tho I really enjoy photographing barrel cacti One thing I’ve notice They seem to start growing between rocks Is that planned by the barrel seedlings Or is just where the plant is most likely to thrive with out being tramped by critters ? Its probably the latter But life is deceptively cleaver at propagating itself Thanks for looking and commenting everyone !! Not sure I can top this weekend excursion But I'll try,,, EdMohs

Rodents probably aren't able to get the cactus seeds that fall between the rocks. They sprout up in full defense with needles.

mohs , maybe the Heron is your Spirit Animal The Heron Spirit Animal"The heron symbolizes stillness and tranquility, and how these two things are needed to recognize opportunities. It also signifies determination, because there will be plenty of marshes and ponds that you will wade through in life as well. ... Just like the heron spirit animal, you are intelligent and patient." We have a lot of heron around here and they seem to be wary of people. It's cool to see a bunch of them roosted in the the trees like ornaments.

Rodents probably aren't able to get the cactus seeds that fall between the rocks. They sprout up in full defense with needles. Sorta like born fully equipped, and with their eyes open? There's also the shear numbers thing, SOME of them will make it through the gauntlet of things that want to eat themoo germinate, grow big, and reproduce themselves. Think of the baby sea turtles, getting from the beach where they hatched, to the ocean. Everything is out to get them and eat them. You'd think none would survive, but a few lucky ones do.

Ya know its interesting a few year ago (And I posted this occurrence on RTH You can check the archives) I was in the work parking lot Having a smoke (Next to the field Where the historic church is located Where I found the red jasper nhojule & crafted the sacr’d heart to the church) (And I posted this occurrence on RTH You can check the archives A white Heron flew into the parking lot! Totally out of the blue. Had never seen one before, And definitely not in that parking lot. Not a drop of water about. (Parking lot was near the Phoenix Zoo & Papago So I figured it came from there) * Anyway, again. That bird was looking in this bush. Then quick as lightening its snatched a lizard. Gulp. What eye sight ! And I’m talking about from flying above. Then it flew off in southerly east direction I watched it for quite awhile. I like the idea of a spirit animal Think I have the lots of patience. Patience of Job…mostly * o about "The Heron and the Heart" maybe I'll write the book by EdMohs
