My friend asked me to look at her rock tumbler - she has a Chicago Electric dual drum tumbler (harbor freight) . she got a little over zealous when replacing the belt and actually took the motor off - " It just stopped working" i-usually got a story behind it. Looking at it - it has a green wire that is not attached. I'm not an electrician and don't feel like burning it up all together. I tried to find any instructions on line but nothing- anyone know anything about this? I'd greatly appreciate it.

Hello there mustangsallie. I believe that would be a chassis ground wire hook it to green wire on cord, bonded to frame of the tumbler.

Not entirely familiar with that model. Google search showed it has a 3 pronged plug. If that's the case you'd have black (live), white (neutral), and green (ground). Like Knave said, the ground should connect to a metal part of the frame. In the event a live wire touched the frame it would energize it, shocking you if you touched it. The ground is supposed to protect from that and trip the breaker if a short occurs. There's an exploded view at the bottom of the manual that might be useful. manuals.harborfreight.com/manuals/67000-67999/67632.pdf

It should be attached to one of the machine screws that mount the motor.
