TheRock How old are the tires. I never wanted tires older then 6-7 years old on my Class A Pusher. Many say no more then 5 years old even if always covered. Part of the reason is sun and ther other part is they set so long without the rubber being flexed..........................MrP

Wild Bill orrum took us to a place that had Blue Dumorterite. We were able to dig up some good stuff. Fun, fun, we (Diane, Mark K , Bob and myself) did that trip before. That is when Mark found the flattireite, lol. We never got to the dumortierite. We had a blast that year!

It's amazing what a Jeep will do, many times I found myself putting it down in LOW LOCK. A 4wd is a must if you want to get serious about rock-hounding Arizona.

A 4wd is a must if you want to get serious about rock-hounding Arizona. That's a Big 10-4 on that! If someone goes out there with only 2 wheel drive, they better have a friend with 4WD and a tow rope, who doesn't mind pulling them out numerous times saving their bacon. Years ago, before 4WD, we got stuck in a sandy wash near Plaster City in Bob's daily driver, '68 Plymouth Fury III station wagon. A long story, but we had to get pulled out by a tow truck. Never again. Biggest problem with our F250 is the long-ass wheel base. Okay for most places, but not for running in twisting and turning sandy washes. A person has got to know their limitations! I remember the wash into one of the claims north of Brenda to be a little treacherous.

Owyhee. I bought a 1/2+ inch slab of it from Tony and didn't get an even split but square. I cabbed and sold the cab cut from the thinner piece. It took a great polish and it sure looks your slab was from the same rock. The pattern went all the way through the thick slab.

I don't travel anymore and Quartzsite is a wonderful opportunity to get quality material. I spend a lot of time looking and the percentage of quality material on line is very low. The best I can do is network with sellers and find stuff that hasn't been listed. I am very particular what I buy.

It's good you won't need to buy any more rough.
That will make it more fun when you see the next one that's begging you to take it home with you!

I hope to get there next year and hope the Rockpickers will be there too. I have a much better set up for camping now. A real teardrop and no freezing my ass off in that awesome tent. (actually, the windy nights are worse than the cold ones.)
