Structure reminds me of palm wood. Orange dents could be iron stains.

I think dyed agate is correct. I can see why you say it reminds you of palm wood, Pat. I work with palm often and the way the vessels appear on the end grain is very similar! Also, very cool!

Looks to me like an attempt to dye an agate with blue Tidybowl cake. Not that I would know this first hand tho...
