i am laid off til who knows when. WI unemployment had a web sight overload for 4 days. Contacted my local State Representative. They had someone call me, so I could apply. The bad thing was the restrictions on which quarters counted. They were all before my hours at work doubled. They also do not count cash tips as earnings, even if someone reports them for income tax purposes, which is a requirement that few follow. So am receiving about 30% of my normal earnings. About the same I received for cash tips. I lost about 40% of my investments when the stock market dropped. Have 3 weeks of TP, plenty of paper towels, meds, animal food and other needed items. I can survive on little food.
Am hoping that income tax filing/payment is delayed. If not, I will be SOL, as I would be down to minimal money.
For now am doing things that make me happy. Spending as little as possible.
My County is in a State of Emergency. Unless very ill, people are encouraged not to go to Dr., or ER. Just self isolate.
Traffic past my place, other than semi's is a lot less than the norm. Semi traffic has increased.
Stay safe everyone and do hat is needed.

Chin up, knave ! We will all get through this -- maybe a little worse for wear, but we will survive. I read today that they are trying a drug that is used to treat malaria and some other stuff to treat COVID-19. Some French doctors tested it on a small group and it was pretty successful at curing positive cases. In 6 days those people were testing negative. Trump told the FDA to ok that drug for use immediately.
With almost everybody staying home as much as possible and avoiding other people (except for the a$$hole kids in Florida on spring break), I'm hopeful that this won't last quite as long as the doomsayers predicted.
I’d bet good money that the kids are not going back to school until August. School is over here- both public schools and college. The high school is doing online instruction with no grades, just pass/fail.

IF the Malaria medicine they are looking to use for COVID-19 is as effective as tested, you can likely consider this a closed deal and look at how we're going to move forward with economic recovery. It is a big IF, but the news media (all of it, I don't care which network or political leaning) is still in "there's still time to panic!" mode. Many people I have spoken to don't even know about the Hydroxychloroquin (and even fewer know about the 500billion strong swarm of locusts that have been eating everything in eastern Africa all the way up to parts of Asia, but that's a different topic). If the medicine is as effective as they say, the bottle neck will likely be testing kits, as it is apparently an anti-viral*, not a vaccine. Meaning that if you don't *have* COVID-19, it's pointless to get a shot of Hydroxychloroquin. *yes, I know, calling it an anti-viral seems to be a misnomer because for the most part we can't treat a virus like we can a bacteria, but apparently this stuff is the exception. I’ll admit I haven’t kept up on this. We have a fair number of patients on oral hydroxychloroquine (trade name is Plaquenil) for some autoimmune diseases like lichen planopilaris (a type of hair loss). Last I read, they were testing its cousin, chloroquine. I wonder if oral Plaquenil offers any treatment benefits? And anti-viral is not a misnomer at all; its actually the proper term for the class. They don’t work the same way as anti-bacterials, but they are quite effective at treating their specific targets. For example, acyclovir and valacyclovir are very effective for herpes breakouts, and if you’ve heard of Tamiflu, it’s decently effective for influenza. The key is getting antivirals started prior to a huge viral load. We would want to make sure those getting chloroquines are started in therapy as soon as possible.

Most medical staff are NOT busy during this time. Hospital staff- yes. But clinics, no. The clinic I work in is seeing half patient load right now, and we may be asked to close, too. I’m not sure what use a dermatologist and dermatology-certified technicians / MAs and LPNs would be in this case. Emergency medicine and probably pulmonology will be most needed. If your speciality isn’t needed, you may not even know how to best help.
I’ve already volunteered unpaid time off. I’m fortunate; husband’s job can be done remotely and he makes a good amount. We do not have kids. I figure, keep those with kids and no spouse employed as long as possible. Husband and I can work through this better than many families can.
All of this has now cancelled my honeymoon. In just over 3 weeks, we were supposed to be in Mexico. Now we may be out $5k (hopefully we can get refunds). I’m really not pleased, as we have no idea when we can even take a honeymoon now, but 🤷🏻♀️ Everybody is making sacrifices now.
I have to roll my eyes a bit at everybody complaining at having their kids home. I know I’m a bit jaded and biased, but honestly? Don’t have kids if you aren’t happily willing to care for them in times of crisis. I know there are nuances here, but in general, this is 100% what you agreed to if you intentionally had a child. Buck up and let your child feel loved. The more you complain about having them around, the shittier they feel. Tears me up a bit.

Just had some interesting news. My grandson's best bud's mother is sick. She went to the dr. She was told to go home and self isolate. Not sure what that really means. Does that mean she has the virus, is at risk for the virus or just keeping an eye out for the virus. Those 2 boys practically live together and my grandson was at my place all day yesterday. She has 4 kids. Wouldn't they all be at risk, if they sent her home to them? She must not have the virus, but what do I know?

I'm sure the kids aren't too thrilled to be stuck at home with their parents, cooped up in their homes with their normal schedules disrupted, either. I can't think of many sane parents who actually relish these circumstances. Parents love to complain about their kids as much as kids love to complain about their parents. But, at the end of the day, they all know they love each other- except for the monsters who don't.

Cant speak for others but I'm thrilled to have daughter home from school until at least 4-19. And more than happy to step in as teacher while off school. However, I think those that express frustration at kids being home from school for extended period of time likely stems from kids not having an outlet to burn energy and just be a kid. Imagine owning an active playful dog that normally has a big yard to play in and then locking it in a crate for most of the day. Dont matter how much u love that dog, wont take long for the dog to start driving u up a wall with its barking, whining, scratching and anything else it does to get your attention for u to let it out so can resume its normal life. Kids can act the same. Especially when at the age where they get amusement at irritating you. Dogs need freedom to be a dog and run and play and smell things. Kids need time to interact with other kids their age. And outlet to burn energy. When u get a dog u know what it entails to raise it but doesnt mean u wont or shouldnt want to just let it out in the backyard for a while and leave u alone for a bit.. just my 2 cents

Today at DQ I saw a very frustrated mother. She is working for low pay, meanwhile her husband is laid off and her children are home from school racking up bills. Her one daughter ordered $500 of horse feed that they apparently can’t afford. There is talk of Minnesota going into a shutdown yet, she would be grounded at home. With income at a standstill and children that are very perceptive to the parents worried moods. It could be a time of great memories but with the lack of structure that could ensue, it could be a nightmare. It is true that having children is a weighty commitment. My $.02

This post is current info, from some Mennonite missionaries in Tanzania... Copy/pasted from WhatsApp. _______________________ ********************************* We stumbled upon this quite accidently. Last night as I desperately fought for breath to live, I just kept stumbling through the house around the fireplace and kitchen trying to hang on to a measure of breath. The rest were holding me up, crying and praying, (and probably wondering who was going to cart my body out to the coffee field). Finally at 3am I was really fading so wheezed out my goodbyes as I slumped up against the fireplace. I told them no one was to do mouth to mouth on me because I didn't want the infection to increase in their lungs. As I sat there fading out to everyone's amazement I got so hot from the fire at my back that I started to sweat buckets and my lungs suddenly started opening up and oxygen came into my lungs. God intervened. The rest quickly piled firewood on the fire and as I started to turn infront of the fire the virus started dissipating from my lungs. This virus can't stand heat. Forget the 56 (C) thing, just get hot, probably mid 40s. Turn slowly, sweat profusely, breath deeply, until you can bare it. Repeat after 20 mins.
We take turns sitting and standing by the heat until we are sweating very much and can't bear the intensity. And then we trade off. Our home is now calm tonight... Only God is the hero here. This save lives!! All the prayers are being answered.
The improvements over the last few hours has been exponential. Even Mel has made incredible progress. God is intervening.
This info needs to get passed around. I think a woodstove is the biggest household weapon we have against this corona fear.
Oh yes, this virus literally stinks. Our house reeks like death, dead fish, decay. That's because as we hydrated, sweated, and medicated... This goop came out of our eyes, noses, lungs, pores. Truly terrible stuff.
When you have lived through this there is no middle ground to this virus. No mediocrity. It's terrible It's evil It destroys And it terrorizes And yet it is the easiest thing to fix. Mimics the devil pretty much in every aspect.
Now we have to wade through the coming days of bureaucracy and the most certain pandemic, but folks. We need to run forth knowing that love will always conquer fear.
23 hours ago I was almost dead... This is what God has done now.
I will mention the whole household came down with symptoms today. And the whole household has made exponential gains in the last eight hours. Most are sleeping peacefully now.
Gods perfect love casts out fear. We need to know this virus is serious and evil. But it's biggest force is fear. Cast that out and this virus dissipates in hours.
