Hi all, I always loved rocks as a kid, and collected them. Somewhere in my teen years I fell out of interest on them. Now I'm just about to hit my 30s, and found out we had a rock shop near where we lived. While looking around at all the rocks and crystals the guy had, I remembered that prior to moving out here to Texas, I had taken a trip to Hiddenite and dug up a couple of bags of rocks. So I asked the guy if he had a tumbler, and turns out, he had a hobbyist tumbler, just a single 3 lb barrel. I bought it and the various stages of grit off him. So far I'm on stage 2 tumbling my rock, and really excited about what I've seen come out.
I'm interesting in learning more about tumbling, and where to get good rocks, and whatever else I end up getting into.

Got a quick update: here's my completed stage 2 rocks. imgur.com/a/WFbcnU2I'm wondering about that quartz with the almost golden/coppery veining. It looks pretty neat and we got a couple of pieces from it. Also had a random piece of labradorite sneak in there.

Welcome to the forum. This is a hobby that you can enjoy at all levels of cost and involvement and the community seems pretty small and very friendly. A nice place to take shelter from the outside noise.

Welcome to the forums from the desert Southwest!
Well, for having just picked up a random bag of rocks during a Hiddenite trip, I would say that you have probably come across an amazing variety of high quality stones. Congratulations on your find, and they are really all coming across nicely. Maybe you can make a post in the "Tumbling Rocks" forum when you are done so more could see the results of your work.
