I have a herbal book that says they can be eaten but only the young ones because the ones older then two or three years old tend to be woody I guess like a white purple top turnip would get after so big. Is that true or as long as they are gathered before they sprout you can still eat them It also says in Russia they use several large leaves to wrap meat in then cook in the ground in a pit in place of tin foil or corn on the cob. Of coarse the pit is filled so deep with a bed coals then covered with so much dirt then add meat then cover the meat with dirt then leave buried several hours to cook I have never tried it with ones more than a couple years old. I harvest when the leaf sprouts first appear.

I was wide awake at 2:00 AM. Ate breakfast at 3:00 AM. So, Easter dinner at 8:30 AM made sense. Broiled Bluegill fillets with my special lemon/herb rub. Baked potato with sour cream and chives. Steamed asparagus with butter and garlic.

We’re having garlic mashed potatoes and marinated and grilled chicken. (I will grill in the snow ❄️) Yesterday was sooooo warm and calm. Barefoot day! EricD started this.

I am usually not night owl. The combo of not working and having a cat wake me up between 2:00 and 3:00 AM daily changed things.

Sounds yummy 😋 I like that this forum has a few night owls Knave, erratic sleeping is a side effect of the plague. No, it was that way long before Covid, Rick. It seems there are many people on this forum that share those traits.
RTH welcomes those folks with open arms. Collecting/playing with/working with rocks is a symptom of the sickness. Can anyone deny we are a collection of misfits? Lol. (Count me as one!)
But what a loveable group!

rockpickerforever I hate to break it to you, but Rick wasnt talking about COVID, 😆 . The plague he speaks of runs in our veins.

Ho ho, I got it. As far as I know, the only thing running in my veins is blood. But, I could be wrong

All of the above - you all got it right. Virus is out there but we're hanging out online with our rock afflicted friends. Rockhounds are a special breed of creature and rock dust in the blood got me at an early age - some others later. When in high school, we all excelled in the earth sciences. Gotta have bright, shiney beautiful rocks and creations made from them. Love to see what others can do with this hobby, keeps me going. I'm RickB and I'm a rockaholic.

Got to luv them little Smokin Joe's...........I've owned a few over the years, convenient, quick, can BBQ or grill, once you get the coal orientation and draft mastered. Kind a like the Vibe tumbler learning curve........lol

Finished my second lunch. A bowl of ice cream with blackberries, hot fudge and caramel. Why? Because I could.

Good on you, Beth.
We're having a late lunch and the ham is in the oven. Yesterday I made my mom's special sweet potato balls (holidays only), corn casserole and my mom's German cheesecake. I'm making carmelized brussel sprouts a little later, too. The cheesecake is for dinner!

Today, and as far as I can see into the future, lunch (and most other meals) will be centered on ham. Since my wife and I are in the "most vulnerable" CV-19 demographic, we're paying a young neighbor to do our grocery shopping.
There was a great sale on my favorite brand of ham early last week and I seized the opportunity. I sent our young shopper on my ham quest and she came back lugging a 20-pounder, the last of that brand available. Oh well...we have a big freezer.
