How many functioning eyes, i wonder? The owners think that all 4 eyes function to some extent. Two on one head are better than the other two. He is eating well. Bodily functions are fine. He is holding up his head and walking with assistance. The owners feel that he has two brains. One brain is controlling movement of two legs and the other brain controls the other two. It will take time for the brains to coordinate leg movements. They have taken Janus to their house to care for him. He eats often. They are also giving him physical and occupational therapy. Unfortunately, their vet's office is closed now. When it opens back up, Janus will have a physical exam, x-rays and scans. What I find amazing is that his Mom is fine. Imagine having twins (one with two heads) and being fine.

I'm glad he's doing well. He'll probably have to be fitted for a brace at some point. Necks aren't designed for that much weight and heads are heavy.

Strange, but he is holding his heads up for brief periods of time. Must be all the neck exercises. The Janus updates are one of the few bright spots on my Facebook feed.

Very possible for Janus to have a full life if they've gotten so far that they've learned to walk. It should be noted that with two functioning and separate brains, Janus is actually two goats. If they live long enough, it may turn out that one has different food likes and dislikes than the other.
We have quite a lot of information now on such situations thanks to Abigail and Brittany Hensel, since they were born with a similar physical structure (They are 30 now, which is absolutely astonishing considering they share the same body). I'm sure Janus is different in some ways when it comes to how the body works, but people curious about how the whole "which brain controls which side of the body" issue can learn from the Hensel's about that, as their entire life has been an example of absolute cooperation.
Sorry, morning ramble, but this sort of thing is so fascinating to me when what would rightly be called a deformity results in a perfectly functioning cardiovascular and nervous system. It is VERY rare.

Interesting story. I wonder how long it will survive. Here's a picture of a two faced calf that was born on a neighbors farm years ago. Not sure if it was stillborn or not.

I saw this story on national news about a week after you posted it. Janus seems to be quite popular.

he is growing fast. Just moved into his fourth bed. Owners keep making larger ones so he does not crawl out.
