Just down the road back towards Fairburn their is a road off to the South, basically on the opposite side of the road from French Creek their would be plenty of camping and it’s absolutely Gorgeous back there up on the bluff. Pretty sure nobody will be there past the first steep ravine! And still close enough for a morning French Creek our house visit!

I forgot about that spot...and you're right, it is close enough to the Campground! Late last year, I walked that topline of those bluffs you see back there in the distance...didn't find anything! LOL Are you there now, or is this an old pic?

I took it last month when we were having that 100 degree heat spell. I found one real nice one but it way way off the road in a washout.

I see you’re getting a little bit of rain out there by Wall today, hope it dries up by Friday so the grasslands roads aren’t gumbo soup!
Going to try to find a Fairburn.... again.... this weekend. Seem to be finding everything else but a Fairburn!

Seem to be finding everything else but a Fairburn! Radar is showing I'm getting the same as the Buttes. If that's so, it's barely sprinkling here. Fairburn looks like it's getting more rain than here. Even if there is some rain today, with the heat and winds we're getting, I can't imagine it'll still be wet this weekend....

I got to get out and hound a bit yesterday with one of my sons. Only for about 3 hours, but it was better than nothing. Here's a few that I found, not spectacular Fairburns but Fairburns nonetheless. My son beat me, I'll try and post pics of his in a bit. Thanks for looking. This one was the better one. Not much to look at until I zoomed in so I'm posting those pics as well...

Not a bad collection for only three hours! The macro shots you took of that one are fantastic!! Amazing intricacies on that one! I swear your son is a Fairburn magnet! That find is off the charts amazing!

Here's my son's finds for the day. I wish he had taken a better picture of this one, it has really nice banding: This one was his favorite of the day, fairly large for the Fairburns that we find: I saw a couple of guys rockhounding Saturday evening at Railroad Buttes on top of the big hill. By chance was that you?

That find is off the charts amazing! Yeah, still didn't find the cantaloupe sized one, though! I like it, too. He always seems to beat me- but I guess that makes it all the better on the rare occasions when it's the other way around.

Those are amazing, Mike! That little one you found with all the tiny details is incredible. That big green one your son found is not too shabby either.

Funny story, we were heading home and decided to pull off on a side road to check out a few rock beds. I wandered over a hill and he decided to check the road, which was pretty steep. We actually have found several on the roads- I think that people stir them up driving and the erosion might also come into play. Anyway, sure enough, he found that one in the road...

Wow!!, those are really nice. Thank you, Henry! Not the best compared to some I've found and posted in this thread, but way better than getting skunked! Hounding is still my favorite thing to do in this hobby, especially when I can get out with my kids. And the best part of the day was that we only saw two snakes- a garter snake and a bullsnake, not one of those nasty prairie rattlers!

Had a chance to hound for 3 or 4 hours again with two of my sons yesterday- luckily I have some pictures to share! First, one of my son's finds...way nicer in person.

Here's a couple, one tiny one on top of one that's what I would consider more of a "signer"...

Then this one. I found it quartz side up. Posting a pic to show the size with it. Not huge by any means!
