It just depends on the Fairburn. You gotta remember the fortification pattern forms "inside" the rock initially. In most cases in this thread, the outer part of the rock has been eroded away, exposing the fortification. So...there could be a LOT of fortification still left inside...or a little...or maybe it goes all the way through.
