I think I am done. After several tries at getting through the flaws I may be giving up. The pinholes and fractures seem endless and if I were to keep trying to grind them out I would be left with pebbles. No surprises though. I have tumbled Lavic before so I knew the odds. The weird part is that the only decent ones are the ugliest most boring plain brown ones. Anything with nice color or pattern was flaw prone. Chuck

Those look great! Plus it makes me feel a little better about my own Lavic woes knowing it's not just user error

I've processed my share of Lavic for sure, so have a few other member's here......still one my favorites. Most certainly one of the toughest to perfect........But, like always, yours are awesome. It seems a common occurrence with Lavic, to end up with great solid red/brown/orange samples. But, where the stone matrix changes to veins of quartz or other colorful mineral deposits, sure as the sun rises, pits, undulations, fractures arise as soon as you reach a 500 stage of grind (some sooner), and one is left with either grinding down to "pebbles" (if your lucky) or just going with the flow.......regardless, Lavic always takes to a great shine, pits and fractures add character (so they say)..........lol........great work Drummond......there's a reason seldom we see "wraps" of this material.....!

I remember the endless holes when I polished some of that, but it turned out cool in the end. I didn't do the contest this year. I needed a break. I think yours look great.

Wow those look awesome IMO. I’m rearing to go to Lavic to try to find some of my own!

Based on this, I might just start mine, even thought temps in the room my tumbler is in are in the upper 40's. Must have got lucky, as very few of mine have pits. Most are nice with lots of features in them.

you got a good entry of rough... all of my are plain brown and ugly I always have a tough time with guessing how the judges will judge the rocks. If it were up to me I would always send in the 5 rocks with the least imperfections and best shine but I get the feeling that sending 5 with better colors and patterns that may have pits or fractures might get judged higher. Its a crap shoot at best. Chuck
