Buying from pictures is always risky. Given good pictures I can usually pick good material. I bought a slabette of Royal Flamingo because the pattern was the closest I've seen on ebay to Howardite. I was hoping to get one medium and one small cab form the piece. The medium one may come out all right it was a tight fit and problems on the top will hopefully grind away (crossing fingers, knock on wood) It is pictured before grinding the dome. The small one has a significant fracture/vug along the edge and I am abandoning it or it abandoned me since it went missing. I bought a small slab of Willow Creek that looked wonderful in the pictures with a lot of color and values but the actual slab wasn't as nearly as nice. I don't need to hit a lot of home runs but these purchases were a ground out to the pitcher.

The Royal Flamingo is behaving. Through 280 soft. The vugs are fairly common with Howardite or Royal Flamingo.
