You've been busy! Did you use a clamp to hold those? If so what kind?
Just caught your question Gary.
Nope...no clamp. Handheld "clamp" against the saw's fence. Held with my right hand as my left hand runs the drop-saw.
Somehow I was just reminded somebody had some kind of an accident involving fingers???
If we were able to carry the love and tolerance shown here into the world as a whole and get anyone to follow the example set, who knows what could be born from that? Stonemon RIP

You must be thinking of Four-Finger Freddie! LOL

I thought that might be the case as I thought you were using a tile saw, but they all look so good and even I started wondering if you had another method.
Bigfoot is often called Sasquatch, Yeti doesn't seem to care!

I found this rock in a creek in Mason Co. TX. The more I look at pictures in this thread the more I am thinking it is coprolite. They have found dinosaur fossils in that particular area, so I don't think it is too far fetched that it is coprolite. It could also be petrified wood I suppose, but from what I've seen of TX pet wood that seems less likely.
dillonf it certainly has "that look" and I can't rule it out. I'm curious what it's like on the inside if you cut it. And what's with that mysterious hole? Dung beetle tunnel?
The fact that dino bones have been found in the area makes it perfectly reasonable to think your rock is a coprolite.

Thanks! I'll post a pic when I cut it - it will be a while because I cut outside and it's 100+ degrees out there for the foreseeable future!
So...I want to show some more slabs that came from Randy RWA3006 .
Y'all, I have about 3 years total experience with rocks...but...I believe there are SEVERAL of these slabs which are truly museum grade specimens!

This one in particular reminds me of Sheep Creek Agate:
I suppose this could be referred to Shit Creek Agate...or Sheep Shit Creek Agate...
*That top one and the one below are absolutely unreal in person!!

Dillon, when I look at slabs, I can't help but try to look for cabs in them. However, there's several of these slabs that I just can't even fathom hacking up!! I'm not a "specimen" type of guy (UNLESS they're Fairburn Agate which I've found!), but I will be getting some slab "stands" so I can display some of these alongside the Fairburns!!

jasoninsd did a lot of slabbing for me. I was absolutely shocked (and I mean that) at how perfect 99.9% of the slabs were. The thicknesses were spot on as were the evenness of the cut. I don't even remember any slight wedges. No saw marks, either. Very smooth cuts. It's pretty remarkable actually... a real talent.

Blind squirrel finding a nut! I'm tellin' ya! LOL
I just kept all the wedge cuts! LOL
My new tile saw is ten times better than the first one I started with. I know a lit bit better on how to control it...basically letting the saw do the work, rather than forcing the cut - like I was doing when I first started cutting. I think the cuts I did for you were some of the first I did on the new saw...

TURD TUESDAY Here's one right off the saw. In these photos you can see a home made clamp I sometimes use to grip them.

Thanks for showing your clamp setup, Randy! That looks like a very effective clamp and much sturdier than many of the geode/thunderegg clamps I’ve seen. No wonder you get such nice cuts on those coprolites!
Those are some great looking slabs of poo, Jason! I think that predominantly red/orange one has got to be one of my favorites. Those are some intense colors you got in that one.

Thanks Brian!!
My camera was going wonky with the colors last night. That towel in the background is a dark navy blue. The camera kept going super bright on all the pics, so I'd have to wait for it to adjust the color, then snap the shot. That one you're describing is probably pretty close to the actual color of that one! I was talking on the phone with another member last night who said "Save that one for me!" LOL
