I really like the rich colors in that specimen. Polish ain't bad neither! There is an interesting science to collecting coral in a river RWA3006. There are various habitats in the river that colors the coral. The fossilized coral is lily white until chemistry stains it to many various colors. Middle of river coral is buried in black organic muck for a very long time stains to the blue/gray tones. In shoals where exposed corals are locked in the tuff clay and exposed to water impingement. Springs in the bank of or near by flowing into the river. Mainly iron based clays. Ancient organic rich tannic acid seeps from adjacent forested flood plains that stain corals at the seep in the bank. Various types of clay veins in or at bank of river. Large coral heads with 1 to 2 inch deep coloring at the surface zone that can be sledged away. Small corals like this one where the surface coloring is a large percentage of the rock. etc etc, and it does not take long to have awareness of these habitats. Any coral in the yellow/orange/red/brown colors will react quite a bit in color changes if heated.

Fishing and coral collecting? Count me in!! I'm serious! I have a vaca set for next week! Starting on the 4th month of a house addition and garage addition Scott. The gravel parking lot out in front of the house has also taken on a new look. Probably have to wait till next warm season. Must get Go-Devil out and see if it still cranks on the first pull. It has been sitting 3 years. Probably needs tuning up. Miss collecting. I would love to take you as a partner river rat. I need you in Clyatville Ga. hotel for 3 to 4 nights. And not be carrying on with those pretty Valdosta southern bells with the moon lit accent .
