They better enjoy the milk while it lasts. They are getting weened this week. All 9 healthy and feisty.

Precious puppies! They don't look so feisty in that picture.
Glad they're all healthy. I bet mom will be relieved when they're weened.

They have started bulldozing her across the floor when feeding in the past couple of days Robin. Certain that she has lost close to 25 pounds and they have become strong and agile on their feet. There longer teeth will help her dislike feeding for sure . She is being picked up by the co-owner on Wednesday.

Nice healthy pack of pups jamesp . I know that you mentioned the breed before but I forgot and wife just asked me. Rhodesian Ridgebacks Rick. They are fairly new to this country and retain many of their field qualities like good hip joints and healthy hardy bodies. They are a hound dog.

We have had Ridgies here for at least 40 years, I was an obedience trainer back then and had a few of these in classes. Lovely dogs, a lot easier to train than a lot of hounds. More sight dogs than scent dogs I think made the difference. They are on the list of dogs I have a soft spot for.

James, it has been too long since you've had a litter of pups. Nine, that's a good number, glad they are all healthy. Was Lenny the (reluctant) stud? Did you ever attempt to breed the clay dog again, or do you really think she is sterile? (Remind me not to play in the clay, lol.)

Did you ever attempt to breed the clay dog again, or do you really think she is sterile? (Remind me not to play in the clay, lol.) Dearest Jean The mother is a Lenny daughter. Thanks for your awareness. She is a funny and super sweet dog, a bit of a butterhead, but has those badass Lenny genes. The pups might be one of the prettiest litters we ever had. They were on the small side but very rugged and feisty. And no runts. The clay dog Pippa has some issue, 2 breeding attempts and no pups go figure. The reproductive vet is mystified. Denise's partner recently had 13 pups from Pippa's litter mate sister. They were fine pups. Lenny's son is an animal, he breeds like a real man. So maybe the lack luster motivation came to an end.

They seem to do about anything for food. If I throw a ball for them to fetch most of them look at me like "get it yourself" lol. Dog tracking collar reveals they rarely explore past 1500 feet into the forest here at home where forests surround us completely. 22 hours a day they are infected with extreme laziness, the other 2 hours is all out full speed ahead.
