I know I'm relatively new on here, but I'd just like to ask for prayers and thoughts. I've ignored an on-again-off-again pain in my abdomen for a few years...I know, not good. Well, yesterday it all came to a point where I was doubled over in pain and could barely function. I kept refusing to go to the Doctor's office, but finally consented when I could barely walk and my wife gave me the Bambi-eyes. Turns out after seeing a doctor at Urgent Care, then going to get a sonogram, then immediately told to get to the specialists office, it would appear I have at least four massive stones in my gall bladder with the largest one being 2.2cm x 1.35cm. The tech doing the sonogram said it looked like I had Legos in my gall bladder! The Doc prescribed some good pain meds so I can make it until tomorrow. I'm trying to keep a good sense of humor, but am nervous as heck. Thankfully, the specialist is by far the most compassionate doctor I have EVER been around. He even rubbed my back at one point and said "I'm so sorry this is happening to you," at least four times! So anyway, I did tell my wife on the ride home yesterday I was going to ask that they save the stones as I'd like to see how they'd tumble...she looked at me horrified! I winked and smiled. I will tell the doctor before I go into surgery tomorrow that he can say as many four-letter words as he wants...as long as "Oops" isn't one of them! So anyway, I'm not asking for anything other than good thoughts and prayers (you don't even have to post them...if you could just think them. ) Thanks for letting me vent...

Good luck Jason. Save those stones and make jewelry out of them. I had a bone taken out of my wrist for thumb reconstruction and told em to save it. They gave me the run around and said I'd have to fill out papers, blah, blah and made it sound like an ordeal. Just gotta insist and make em earn their pay!
If you work it right maybe somebody will send you a sympathy stone.

You have my sympathy, prayers and well wishes. Your attitude and great sense of humor will go a long way towards dealing with this and recovery. And, yes, save the stones!

I’ve heard nothing good about kidney stones, so it will be a relief to remove them. 2.2cm is a good size, so save them!
I’m sorry you are going through this. Not pleasant, but tomorrow will be better, and the next day better.,, hang in there. Soon it will be history.

Crap, sorry to hear that Jason! Of course you're in my good thoughts and prayers. Your post made me chuckle, I'm glad you still have your sense of humor! Good luck tomorrow, I'll be thinking of you my friend. Sometimes it's laugh or cry. I get my sense of humor from my mom. At the graveside service for her mom's funeral, one of the guests had a dog in their car and it was going nuts barking. My mom could see he was beyond embarrassed. So, she leaned over to him and said "Thank you!" - He of course looked even more horrified as he thought she was upset...instead, my mom winked and again said "Thank you...I didn't think there would be singing here at the service today." Jason, certainly wishing you all the best from Wisconsin. It sounds like you are in great hands. Thanks for posting about it too. Thank you for the well wishes. I am still taken aback (in a good way) with how compassionate he was/is. I think this doc actually believes in the Hippocratic oath and not the hypocrite oath. I feel like a person and not a number or a dollar sign... I actually do plan on telling them to save the stones. My wife is horrified - or more to the point grossed out by the thought. I can't wait to ask her to put them in her purse on the way home! (I'm kidding - I won't...I mean I won't "expect" her to do so, but I WILL ask - strictly for reaction purposes!) You have my sympathy, prayers and well wishes. Your attitude and great sense of humor will go a long way towards dealing with this and recovery. And, yes, save the stones! Thank you so much! The pain meds make me think I'm being funnier than I probably am! I’ve heard nothing good about kidney stones, so it will be a relief to remove them. 2.2cm is a good size, so save them! I’m sorry you are going through this. Not pleasant, but tomorrow will be better, and the next day better.,, hang in there. Soon it will be history. I had kidney stones about 20 years ago. That was an unbelievable sharp pain. These gall stones cause one of the most intensely painful "cramp" types of feelings I've ever felt. Thank you so much! I was always better in math than history, but I'm planning on putting this behind me starting tomorrow! I'll be praying for a swift and successful surgery for you Jason.
Get the stones!
Thank you sooo much. I really do believe in the power of prayer!

sorry to hear and wish you a speedy recovery. years back I had a cpl year bout of kidney stones and they were terrible pain. I had to whizz through a strainer in order to catch the stone to be tested for what it was made of. the first time I saw it i wanted to keep it lol! it was literally a little light brown crystal cluster! but they had to test it so no luck. gotta post pics if you get to keep it!

Good luck. That is the wrong way to make pearls. The good news is that it is an operation that has been performed a few times before, like often. Stay strong. You will get thru it, especially with your good attitude.

Just wanted to say a very heartfelt thank you to all of you!
I know it was a "routine" surgery, but I've heard too many horror stories of someone not waking up after the anesthesia, which made nerves run pretty high.
So, biggest regret...I was so out of it with no sleep the night prior, a lot of pain meds, still a lot of pain, and being bombarded with info just prior to the surgery, I totally FORGOT to tell them I wanted the stones! I cannot believe I didn't say anything! Arghhhh!
Thank you all again. It meant a lot to me!
Jason - (Regrets having no stones of which to post pics!)

I'm glad it over and you are on the mend. Take it from the RTH community, there are better stones to have than the ones you let the surgeon have. Mend well before you venture out for the good stones.
