Hello Rock Stars! I’m a little nervous here.😂 Last night I (after much deliberation) I placed my first rock order from Rock Shed. I’ve been drooling over all your gorgeous photos and I hope I don’t, (in my enthusiastic ignorance) mangle 20 pounds of Mexican Lace. Please tell me, (using small, nontechnical words,) what I absolutely must know in order to have a reasonably satisfactory tumble.😂 I’m using a Thumler’s AR-12 tumbler and have a stockpile of grit, prepolish and polish, btw. Tbh, I’ve been practicing on a lot of self gathered rocks and having a lot of fun, and I’m not sure if Mexican Lace is the best choice for a newbie, but, I just LOVE it!😂😂😂 So, your pearls of wisdom would be highly appreciated.😍

It's a very hard rock with some areas that are a little softer, that are usually red. Just go ahead and roll them like you would anything else, I say. Have fun!

If your Mexican lace is hard you should get a great tumble. There is video by one our great tumblers on Mexican lace.

Probably don't have to do anything different when tumbling Mexico Lace, then to follow the standard tumbling directions. Clean well between stages so you don't contaminate the next round. Add tumbling media for the pre-polish and polish, especially if your barrel is getting low after rounding. You can have some additional fun by pre-shaping a feww of the stones. Good luck! Show pics.

Thanks Grieg! I’m planning on documenting everything and posting pics especially since I love Mexican crazy lace and hope to do more if this batch turns out ok.

Thanks Grieg! I’m planning on documenting everything and posting pics especially since I love Mexican crazy lace and hope to do more if this batch turns out ok. I was looking at the rough on the website the other day. I started wondering, is Mexican Lace and Mexican Crazy Lace the same, or is there a difference between the two? I didn't know if they had just abbreviated Crazy Lace, or if there is a genuine difference in the two. Either way, I'm on the edge of my seat to see how this turns out for you! I have some "donated" Crazy Lace cabs waiting to be tumbled. It is by far my favorite agate...tied with Fairburns! LOL

I’m not sure if there’s a difference between the two. Maybe the crazy lace has more pattern? Idk😂 Anyway, it’s my favorite rock. Let’s just hope I can get good results😂😂😂

Listen to these guys :-)
You'll do great, just remember "garbage in, garbage out" so discard any that are really pitted or cracked (or use them over and over in stage one until they're acceptable....could be awhile), and then go to town!
