It's a good thing it's nowhere near me, I've gone broke! Closest shop to me is 5-6 hours.

Of course, I haven't gone anywhere and I'm still broke so maybe that would just be an un-necessary step....

I didn’t really have the money
I did spend about 300 bucks over the coarse
Last few weeks .

I was there for the last day.
They had all this tumbling grit
At least 40 bags of various grits
And other accessories.
There had to be over easily 1000 dollars worth of retail
I asked how much for all it?

Last day it was just sitting there.

They made me and offer of about 1/2 price.
Well I didn’t have the 500 to invest
Not bad-- but not encouraging enough !
W/ then having the concern with trying to hustle it off

They had other stuff to.
A Nice Lortone free spinning heavy duty Arbor
A Really nice faceting machine.
A large open face vibrating lap.
All good

And wire! And pliers!
Lots of metal smithing tools. ect ect

Anyway I got some good stuff. I bought their rocks. About 15 dollar investment
That was a mercy buy. For such a classy lapidary supply shop they didn’t know squat about rocks

I hope to hear from the owner as the days go by.
I wanna know what happened with all those supplies.
So we shall see hopefully

@mohs - Thank you for the welcome.  I love this place; I can talk rocks all day; still have a LOT to learn.


 Grit is expensive here. And so are rocks. And everything else. I'd kill for some of that equipment! The arbor especially, and the lap would be nice; what were the prices like? The wire & grit I would grab in a hot second.

Its funny cause after I wrote this
I drove over by the shop.
Cars were out front and some furniture
Outside they were giving away
So I stepped in

The clerks were in there doing a major cleaning up & boxing up the excess inventory.
Most of it is boxed up. All the grit, wire the major machines were boxxed.
Under audit what I was told. So no saling from that
Darn. My timing is off.

She doesn’t know (or is being coy) about where this inventory is going.
Anyway, I again gave them my number and told them if that stuff is just sitting in some storage shed-- I’m available to barter.

I did get a deal on 3 Crystallite belts and a diamond bit. A couple bucks.

The place was always strictly business. Hard to get them to be anything other.
They dealt with lots of big time jewelers.
I was just the backyard grind guy that would show up in early morning in grind mode
and be purchasing belts and such.

They really didn’t know what to do with m hs .

Anyway I’ve spent considerable amount with them
The last few days I’ve recouped some of that.

I’m really looking forward to getting back to grinding.
Especially with some of these new supplies.
It still too hot in the morning but that should start backing off soon I hope.

Like all of us we like to keep the grind overhead down. I do things on inexpensive side.
Have to grind with the resources ya have.
