Here is my attempt at classifying this material.
Type: Quartz, a mineral. Subtype: chalcedony Subtype: fibrous Subtype: banded Subtype: agate Subtype: Bahia agate (named variety of quartz).
Found in Brazil. I was unable to ascertain whether the name came from a river or a state there. Mohs 6.5-7.0

Looking really good. 6-12 months? What contributes to this type of rock taking that long? (I'm a noob at tumbling so it might be obvious to others!)

I too wonder why so long, as one would think an agate is an agate. But these are perhaps the toughest agates I've tumbled.
