Would really like an I.D. on this one. The cab is going to make a great pendant but it will help if I can list it properly. My only guess is polish flint but it just did not seem that hard. Thanks Chuck

It does look a lot like Polish Flint, but I can't say for sure. I hope you don't price it low, it's an extraordinary cab for sure. Maybe polaszko can help out with ID

My other thought was petrified wood or yellow jasper (Mohs 7), but your comment that it is soft makes me think otherwise. Do you know the hardness and streak?

I use the term soft in a relative manner. It seemed softer then flint back when I roughed the cab on the 80 grit diamond wheel. After roughing it the cab went through 120, 500 , 1000 and polish in the lot-o and took a great shine and held its shape so I do not think it is too soft. chuck

Ohh... I'm too late. Yes these rocks looks almost the same to stripped flint, but I have never seen strips making a cross like on second photo. It's probably some kind of rare anomaly.
