My daughter is working from home again.
Grandbabies day care room has been shut down due to another toddler testing positive for COVID.
Daughter has a special project for work that must be done today. She cannot work and care for AJ at the same time. Posted on FB that she was looking for someone to distract him today. I was the only person available. Today is my day off work for this week.
So, after AM farm chores, will be headed there. It might take AJ a few minutes to remember who I am. That is the norm. He is a Mama's boy. Usually warms up to me quickly. If he cannot see Mama at home he often becomes upset.
I have been able to distract him in the past.
My daughter feels I can manage AJ enough that she can work for about 5 hours.
A delivery of 12 yards of fabric for face masks for local face mask makers group after that.
After that I am home. A local heating/plumbing company is coming to inspect my dead hot water heater and semi-dead furnace. Then do needed repairs/replacement. I hope they work with someone who can install a basement floor and sub pump. That is also needed. The hot water heater was destroyed in April. I have had no hot water since then. Furnace is working so-so. Some heat, but also blowing cold air at times.
Will also need to do horse fence repairs. Did a cobble job repair yesterday before work.
Will try to get some photos of AJ to post this evening.
Yes, am trying to cram way too much into my day off work.

Dang. You have lots on your plate. Good luck with the day. I am sure all will feel good if AJ acts happy and hot water flows again.

Well this is a bit odd, but I'm hoping you stay out of hot water today, as much as I'm hoping you get into hot water today! And I agree with Greig, you've got a lot on your plate today. Be careful not to overdo it.

Got to help AJ play in the snow for the first time in his life. I also taught him 4 new words and 3 new signs.
When my daughter came up from the basement for a work break, AJ made some baby garble. Then signed work finished. My daughter looked at me confused. Asked me what he just said. I looked at AJ. Then signed and said work finished. She just shook her head in amazement. Said she would let day care know the new signs.
My daughter was concerned that he was not learning colors, so when I was reading to him, I focused on pointing to and telling him the colors. I had him practice with a few colors. Before my daughter and I took him outside, I asked him what color his Mama's pants were. He said "Boo". She was wearing blue jeans. Asked him what color her hat was. He said "wed". She was wearing a red hat. After snow play, it was lunch time. AJ was given raspberries as part of lunch. He pointed to them and said "wed". So, he knows how to say the color red. Also had some green beans. Pointed to them, looked at me and said "geen". My green jacket was nearby. I pointed to it and asked him what color it was when my daughter came into room. He said "geen".
I had a blast with AJ. Taught him some new things. My daughter was able to get some from home work done.
Picked up my order from a tiny local beer/wine brewery. Am now enjoying the most excellent Russian Imperial Stout I have ever tasted.
Dropped off fabric for mask makers.
Water heater/furnace inspection took 10 minutes. Now playing the waiting game on when hot water heater will be replaced and furnace repaired.
Someone is coming between 5 and 6 to help with fence repairs.
I cannot afford to overdue it, but everything done today was within 20 miles of home.

Aww! The post started off so yucky and then all the happy times with AJ. He's lucky to have a grandma like you Here's hoping the furnace & water heater can be fixed somewhat affordably. We had ours done last year, and it sucked, but hot showers are worth it. I have no idea how you manage(d).

Quite a few years ago I lived in a "hole in the wall". I took cold showers for months...many months because I couldn't afford to get a new hot water heater - or figure out why I had hot water downstairs, but not upstairs. Then one day, I decided to quit turning on the hot water in the shower and just turn on the cold water since I figured it wasn't doing any good anyway. Well...it was only then that I discovered the hot and cold knobs had been reversed on the shower...so I had hot water the entire time - but every time I'd turn "up" the hot water, I was in fact turning the cold water up more! Man oh man did I feel like a big DONKEY on that one! LOL (But a warm, clean donkey after that! LOL)

jasoninsd - You just made my day. At least you learned to test both taps going forward. RIGHT? Hehe. I remember when I was young and very, very poor out of college, and our gas got shut off. The day I could pay the big gas bill was amazing. I will never take a hot shower for granted
