We had a new visitor this morning, one that we've never had before — at least this close. Perched high up in one of the huge fir trees behind our house, my wife spotted this bald eagle through the leaves of our big leaf maple tree. He or she was busy consuming this morning's breakfast, which may well have been a squirrel or even someone's cat.
I shot this through our kitchen window and then went outside to find a clearer and closer view. Unfortunately, at the very instant that I could see the eagle it could also see me. It decided to fly off and find a more private dining area.

Nice pic capture! I love seeing bald eagles!
Yesterday, my dad was standing in his backyard doing work and I was out back in my yard doing my own work (we're neighbors) and all of a sudden we both stopped and stared up. A young bald eagle was flying/soaring overhead. It was pretty low and very majestic. It was circling for a couple minutes...never once thought to grab my phone for a pic! LOL
There's been a couple adults that have had a "flight path" over our houses for the last several years. I'm hoping this was one of their offsprings...

That is so awesome! You wife has a good eye to be able to see that with all the leaves still on.

I need to clarify something. My wife was definitely not "perched high up in one of the huge fir trees behind our house".

Spotted your own dangling modifier, I see. 😀
Otherthan that, nice shot

If I saw such a big bird, I'd stay in the house!

If I saw such a big bird, I'd stay in the house! They rarely carry off people.
