I don't have a big rock pile, it is more of a transfer station. Buy rock, sell cabs and give the rest away.

It's been a few years since I've cabbed, but one of the very first ones I made was this guadalupe poppy jasper plucked out of a scrap bin at a club sale, before I knew how rare it was.

This is some material I picked up about a month ago. I was waiting until I got a slab saw to cut this stuff. There were only a couple orbs in all the slabs...but there were definitely some beautifully busy slabs. Flor de Durazno Lace Agate (Flower of Peach)

Nice collection of poppy jasper. stephan that coyote creek slab looks really cool, is that a Morgan hill locale? Thanks. To the best of my knowledge, the Coyote Creek material is not terribly far from MH, but a bit North... nearer San Jose and the Guadalupe deposit, I believe. I wish I had more than just that one slab I think that piece is From Guadalupe creek.. Or maybe the confluence, if in fact they meet

Thanks. To the best of my knowledge, the Coyote Creek material is not terribly far from MH, but a bit North... nearer San Jose and the Guadalupe deposit, I believe. I wish I had more than just that one slab I think that piece is From Guadalupe creek.. Or maybe the confluence, if in fact they meet I definitely see elements of Guadalupe in there, especially on the right-hand side. I’m pretty sure the ID is correct, though, since I obtained it from the Sac Mineral Society’s shop steward, who is quite knowledgable about poppy jaspers. I also believe he dug it himself. I’ll have to look at a SC County watersheds map to see if the creeks meet.

I checked, and there is no confluence, but the watersheds are adjacent, so I can imagine the, at home point, the two creeks run on the opposite side of the same hill/mountain. This could account for it looking similar to, but not exactly like Guadalupe jasper. Admittedly, my experience with it is limited, but it seems to have mostly white-filled orbs. Thoughts?

My rockhounding is only on the internet. I have a lot of flavors of Guadalupe and when in doubt I call it Guadalupe. There is so much variety of that material that I wouldn't bet the grocery money on an id. This one is definitely Guadalupe.

Here is another interesting one. It seems that, besides the matrix color, the presence green orb with a red center in the matrix (seen here at 12 o'clock), could be diagnostic of Richardson's T-eggs: IMG_0371_Orby, mossy Richardson's T-egg freeform cab by Stephan T., on Flickr While it is not present in all RR T-eggs, it seems to be there in most of them. Most importantly, though, I don't usually see that structure in other eggs.

jasoninsd you guessed it! First slobber then slab, then hopefully more slobbering. I definitely hope to see some pics! (Of the slabs...not the slobber! LOL)

That stone is gorgeous looking @jadedvision. The colors are subtle but the pattern is mezmerizing.

Seems like poppy jasper is everywhere but my garage However, I picked up a gorgeous slab of ocean jasper from roy a couple weeks ago that is going to be cabbed up at some point. I’m loving these educational and fascinating threads stephan!
