Hey Joe! I can't really offer a suggestion on the whereabouts down there for hounding as I'm wintering in South Dakota! LOL I wanted to say welcome to the forum and I LOVE the pic of your dog! I hope you have a BIG motorhome to fit that beautiful beast!

Texas is a largely private property state, so the river bank access is your friend. Read JamesP's comments about the adventures around Lake Amistad further up river. It seems like even Falcon has been mentioned. In some areas the shore line is your most logical spot.

Anyplace between Carrizo Springs and Falcon Dam where there is an exposure of the Uvalde gravel. These are unsorted river gravel deposits that appear as large cobble beds. There are a couple of quarries near Eagle Pass that sometimes allow collectors but mostly, look for exposed gravel in roadside ditches or on gravel roads. Spring before last we hit a good site along a road where road construction had made a big newly graded cut alongside the paved road and another real good roadside ditch full of gravel. Be careful though as this is not the safest place in the country to collect. Zeta cartel country just across the border.

I found a road near Lake falcon that was just bulldozed in to a gravel pit, a few miles long and picked lots of nice material from the sides of the road.

I would just try to be sure and steer clear of National Forest, or State Park land. I heard that they take the penalties for hounding in those areas pretty seriously in those parts.
