I've made it my goal to be more positive in life. It's been amazing. I feel I've had a lot of personal growth and really helped me a lot in a bunch of minor ways. Really. I used to be the most negative person in the room (mental health man, it's no joke!). Except you know what? Sometimes I just want to be mad about how unfair life is. Sister texted me this morning. My dad lost both his best friends (human, and canine) in the last 24 hours. Hearing him cry on the phone just crushes me. Mom lost her brother (alzheimers) a few weeks ago and I'm dealing with work struggles draining my resources. Turns out that working 12 hour days is wearing on me too. All of November was stress, stress, stress over something that should've been simple but turned into this Major Thing (now hopefully resolved? Maybe?). Don't even get me started with the addition of Covid, and the holidays. I've started hoping the JW's will come to my door so I can talk to someone about something other than work or Covid because now that my main job is WFH, there's really not that many places for me to go. Being that I'm an agnostic, and sort of anti-social due to work, that should tell you how real my cabin fever is I'm sorry RTHF, I just needed to vent for a bit. I feel better now. Your turn

Glad you're trying to have a more positive attitude, I could stand to try that some days also! And sorry to hear about your struggles, but there's nothing wrong with venting. A friend I had once told me about something that helps, and they were right. Rock Therapy.

I agree with others...we all need to vent at times... I try to remember (try being the operative word there) that we don't know the light without the dark...the good without the bad...the joy without the sorrows...the easy times without the struggles... (I just wish it seemed a little more even, rather than so seemingly one-sided so often! )

So here my rant I started this rock'n heart project a couple days ago I got an early start this morning grindig’n Having a lovely time my dear Wish you were here. After a a couple hours I was switching over to the 280 grit I was hummed in Then I was rudely interrupted Turned on my power switch to the extension cord . No go Switch broke. Uggh Got go to Home Depot buy new one. Quick trip ha They don’t have the type I want . So I buy the next 20-dollar alternative. That took a good hour and half get home figure I best put off more grinding Time for loonch Then I figured I’ll go to Ace Hardware. Get a proper cord. They don’t sale them any more Or should I say-- they had a real expensive alternative So I buy it Then I figure I’ll go back to Home Depot Return the 20 dollar one Do that. For some reason I decide to look further into Home Depot Darn! They have an alternative for 10 dollars less So I buy that one. Now I figure I’ll whip over to other Ace Hardware that close to that Home Depot. To return the other electrical alternative. O no no NO ! Ace Hardware’s stores are individually own They wont honor the return. Have to go the original store of purchase. That Ace is not the place. Well I considered that but its To far out the way and my driving is horrendous. Do it some other time. Don’t need to add fender bender all this. Phoenix is calling for rain in the morning So I’m not sure when I’ll finish my project But I’m really zoned in on it....

We all need to vent on occasion. Holding all the frustration and anger in is way worse for your health (mentally and physically).
I'm sorry you're having such a rough time right now. Just know in your heart that it will pass.
As an aside, even the JW aren't going to doors right now. I know, because we got a letter in the mail instead today (really)!

I've made it my goal to be more positive in life. It's been amazing. Stick with that attitude and you'll be fine . And remember , what doesn't kill you makes you stronger . At least that's what they tell me .

Mel from Yuma & Spokane (PrettyGritty) said, "Being that I'm an agnostic, and sort of anti-social due to work, that should tell you how real my cabin fever is." Agnostic definition is - a person who holds the view that any ultimate reality (such as God) is unknown and probably unknowable; broadly : one who is not committed to believing in either the existence or the nonexistence of God or a god. I read your vent with interest. We have a few things in common. I have worked from home since 2001 when I started working for a computer company. Same "anti-social due to work". I got a call Christmas eve that my Mom who is in a nursing home tested positive for Covid and is now in their isolation ward. She is on Hospice with COPD and has a Do Not Resuscitate and wants no meds except for pain. She has a low survival expectation. It is my job now to lookout for her wishes. I have not been out fossil hunting in a loooooong time. You mentioned many stressors in your life, long hours, sick family, emotionally supporting those around you, covid to name a few. The biggest one is Agnostic see definition above. An atheist says there is no god therefore life is by chance and therefore the value of life is what you make it. Self comes first. The agnostic is in the most untenable position of denial of both god and no god and there by not having access to the comfort of either position. In judeo-christian thinking God is both creator and personal. A personal God is a God that knows and cares and wants to be known. Being God and there by creator of the universe, he knows that if he did not reveal himself to us we could never know about him. We just celebrated Christmas. The whole point of Christmas is that a personal God became like us to tell us about how we can have a relationship with Him. Jeremiah 29:11 ‘For I know the plans that I have for you,’ declares the LORD, ‘plans for welfare and not for calamity to give you a future and a hope.

mohs - when I was a kid I had a racetrack I could configure in all kinds of shapes, including figure 8's...your description of your driving around yesterday reminded me of some of the most sinister designs I came up with for that track! LOL (Glad you made it home safe though and nice half heart! ) miket - I think you had it right with rock therapy! hummingbirdstones - Robin, the JW comment took me half a second to figure out the JW...then I laughed! (It's always funnier when I get a joke! LOL) wigglinrocks - I tried really hard not to get a visual while reading that... LOL rmf - that was a very thoughtful, very well thought out, and well-written post.

jasoninsd Thanks! I realized that I omitted one observation. There is not pretense of "fair" in an atheistic POV because it is random chance that propels life. Fairness by definition assumes God. Not any god in general but a personal God who cares.

MelHave faith in yourself and your decisions. When things seem to be more than you think you can handle, reach out to someone. If that is impossible, go some place that you love. Try to relax. My minor vent for today. Went out to do AM chores. Temp 0. Wind chill of -4. Saw that something had taken down part of my wood shed door. Last time this happened my Husky crawled between the boards and got stuck. After chores, grabbed some new boards. Sat down in snow to attach them to door. Discovered that my dog's water dish was unplugged. The extension cord runs through the wood shed. Was able to get the door open enough to crawl in. Plugged the dish back in. Finished attaching more boards to door. I was outside for about an hour. By the time I was finished my pants were covered in snow and my fingers numb. I took it all in stride. Tried to keep a positive attitude.
