So most of us here on RTH know that nice people exist in the world, but I wanted to share this. My family is going through some stuff right now and I had to go in to Walmart to get some weekends off. There's a coworker there that I hound with and when I said hi to him he pulled a rock out of his pocket and gave it to me. He didn't know about anything going on, he just knew I'd like it. Pretty nice guy. Anyway, it's a Lake Superior Agate, just thought I'd show a pic. Now I have to decide if I want to tumble or cab it! I'll probably tumble it, it's the first Lake Superior I've had... Thanks for looking!

Nice. How big is it Mike?

Not huge, about 2 inches long. Since the patterns wrap around it I'm thinking the best thing to do is tumble it.

Mike - I'm sorry to hear your family is going through some tough times right now...it definitely doesn't sound like it's a good thing. My vote...tumble!

That is so cool. Just a little gesture can mean so much.
I feel you, my friend. Hope things turn around.
I’m voting for the write-in candidate: leave it as is. There’s something about Lakers in their natural state that appeals to me.

One never knows the real impact of random acts of kindness. I'm very happy for you to get this and I'm glad it lightened your load- no matter how briefly.

I'm not a big believer in rocks having energy of their own but I am a huge believer in the positive energy of human kindness - especially when random and unexpected. I think I'd tumble that rock in my pocket for a few days or until the storm blows over.

I think what's important here is that you recognized the gesture, Mike. I believe that's more important than what you received.
It's the little things...
Hang in there!

Hopefully things move into a much more positive direction soon! Was thinking of you & jasoninsd the other day; I talked to a lady who's last name was Fairburn. She was delighted to find out that there were gorgeous rocks with the same name. Nice stone too! PS. Please promise you won't get sucked into the "cult of the Lake Superior Agates" or we might be in trouble Those people take their agates SERIOUSLY.

I'm a card-carrying member of the Fairburn Freakniks! I think you were a gem to have talked to her about the SD state gem!

miket, I'm sorry to hear of the tough times. Hope things are better soon. I'd keep it in my pocket just to remind me of the good things that happen, and to know that everybody is rooting for you. That rock will give you warm fuzzy feelings. Take care.

She was only 71 and was always really good to me. Everyone goes through it and it's a part of life, but never easy.
