Know what you are going thru, I lost my wife of 30 years, in a nursing home, because of incompetence by a nurse in what was supposed to be a short time visit for physical therapy before returning home.
As far as your laker goes , my wife and I collected them for many years and I would suggest you face polish the large flat side and leave the rest of it natural . That usually is the best way to display them . When and (if) you get tired of looking at it's beauty, then you can throw it in the tumbler or cut it up. As a display piece it is worth something (check E-Bay prices ) sliced up or tumbled, not so much !

Warm thoughts for your family. 71 is too young and a terrible loss. It shows your strength that you can still appreciate a rock and share the moment with your friends here. It is funny that a Wally Mart employee had an agate in his pocket. Sounds like my kinda guy. By the way, I'm the odd man out here...I'd cab it. But whatever you do will be nice.

Well, like I said it's a part of life. A funny story, she came for a visit over Thanksgiving for three weeks- and didn't mind a bit that I went rock hunting a couple of days with two of my sons while she was here! In fact, she encouraged it. There's about 5 or 6 Walmart employees here that hound Fairburns, including the manager. Also a guy that hunts fossils in this area on private land...
