Vibratory If you are running 120/220 for 2 days then running 120/220 for another 2 days why do a clean/rinse in between? Why not just add more grit and water sprays?
Is it because you get too much slurry?

I don't have a vibe tumbler but it makes no sense to me. I find it hard to believe the grit would be worn down after 2 days and if it is then it is just a finer grit. I watch this thread with interest.

Well the issue with a vib tumbler is that you can build up so much mud that the rotation action stops. This is more a problem the coarser the grit.

Thanks! It is a physics thing then.

Depending upon the grit size/amount and the hardness of the material you are vibing you can eventually produce so much slurry that regardless of the moisture concentration you will not get proper action since there is too much to stick to the rocks and it will sit at the bottom. Here is a photo @ 24hrs/500 grit in my UV-18...action is frozen and adding water does not resolve the issue (bowl is 50% full of Serpentinite-Mohs 3-6): need to cleanout at this point and restart.

I had the same question. I am in the second 220 stage right now and I did not do a cleaning after the first, good rinse, but no soap run. The slurry does get pretty thick depending on what you are tumbling to the point where changing it is a good idea. Three to four days without a change the slurry would get pretty thick.
