That's definitely a conundrum. I can't help with the ID, but I'm curious as to what others think it is.

I am not seeing anything that strikes me as bone. Chert maybe Pwood. On image 2 at 5o'clock there is some trace that looks like fossil which makes me think chert. Image 1 has boxwork which could be loss of a mineral or . Image is just not like holding in hand and scouring with a high power hand lens. none the less interesting

I'm thinking its sedimentary and probably not bone. Not all fossils are adequate for identification. Too often they have been crushed, broken, tumbled, eroded, and subject to time to the extent that they become things.

and it did it again. I used three question marks in a row. No worries! I didn't know that emoji implied "stupid" anyway:). What is the "box" reference? Sorry I closed the other window and can't remember the phrase LOL. The matrix in the pic is what reminds me of bone. I think I will just have to cut it...

Box work is when there is a filling between some minerals and it fills with quartz or calcite and makes a structure. Go to your favorite browser and search on "boxwork calcite' to see a good example.

Cool. "Why didn't I search that on my own?" I find myself asking this question. Super cool. Well I may be cutting it shortly.

I don’t know. However, photo 2 resembles a shell with the hinge on top. Wavy edges also resemble shell edges.
