I know it is disappointing when original plan doesn't work out but this is beautiful work...

That slab would make something interesting as well. I love the pattern in that red stone.

Nice! Too bad about the Larimar, but the Dino Bone is really complemented by the textured dome and bail. Excellent work!

I could see how Larimar would have looked amazing with that texture, but the dino bone looks great with it as well. If you hadn't told us, I would have assumed it was your original plan since it looks so good.

Holy Dino Bone Batman!!! Bill, that looks spectacular! I'm a firm believer in "Everything happens for a reason"...so it was just meant to be! Is that Dino Bone stabilized? What was the issue with the Larimar? I just got a small slab of it and am curious to know what to watch for... (I hope that it's not "too soon" after the heartbreaking events to make you talk about the "break-ups" )

I keep plugging along with what I do and everyone else here brings their A game. Nice work and the Dino bone is superb.

(I hope that it's not "too soon" after the heartbreaking events to make you talk about the "break-ups" ) Dino bone was stabilized with opticon prior to slabbing. The larimar was going to be my submission for monthly cabbing contest. High dome (8mm) was not a good idea for this material. My suggestion for larimar is to keep the cab small and the dome low. The less surface area the more likelyhood of success. I have pulled myself together after the break up.....I have some long awaited rough sitting in Customs. Should be here next week. Oh the anticipation!

Oh the anticipation! Thanks for letting me know on these questions! I'll look up the process for stabilizing with Opticon. I have some material (including some Dino Bone) that I think would benefit greatly from stabilization. Also, thanks for the info on the Larimar. I was going to try and do a cab about 1.25" tall, but I may dial that back...

I think the dino bone was meant to be in there... you just didn’t know it. It looks perfect.

I think this is a wonderful piece. Larimar would have been nice, but it didn't play well, so it missed out on the accolades.

It's not fun cutting a cab to match a preset bezel. Well done!
I absolutely love how you fastened the bail. I bet it gives it more movement.
