have long been a problem for me. THEY have the audacity to call it "Essential Tremors." Some are now using the term "Kinetic Tremors." Well, that makes me feel a little better. Thanks Mark! Definitely worth looking into! Well I have found the main cause - My diabetes medication METFORMIN! It depletes my body of vitamin B12. My right hand starts flapping like it thinks I'm a bird. 2 pills under my tongue and it calms down. Why didn't they ever teach my doctor that?

Dave, sorry to hear about the hand tremors. It just has to get frustrating at times!
I'm glad you may have found the root cause and are able to possibly counteract the effect from the meds.
As far as your question...probably because there are WAY too many pharmaceutical products on the market to know them all as well as their potential side effects...and (I feel) the front line medical field is setup like an assembly line: people in the door, prescribe something as quickly as possible, get them out the door, "Next!" - Too far gone are the days of the "family doctor" who actually knew your family and their medical histories. Too many people in the world reliant on going to the doctor for the slightest sniffle or ache for doctors to keep up.

How did you find out that it was the metformin? Did you read something about it? Just wondering. My late MIL had the tremors really, really bad and no one could figure out why. I wonder if this was it? She was on metformin. I wonder if everyone on it should take the supplement?

My Wife is quite a researcher and she found the information on Metformin.

So glad you figured it out. I lost my mom this past winter due to medical stupidity. Long and short of it was over prescription of none necessary medication. She ended up with kidney failure, and after 5 years of dialysis and constant c-dif infections her body just gave out. I refuse to take any prescriptions until I have researched the hell out of it.

Yep, I've had a couple prescriptions backfire on me because of pill pushing doctors that will spew out prescriptions willy nilly. I had to figure it out myself and when I told them about the complications and side effects they gazed at me incredulously as if I were speaking some gibberish dialect. Research side effects diligently before hand! Just hop on the net and do a search.

Glad you found the culprit and hope it’s a long term!
