My wife found this on eastern side of Sirgreaves pass, in a pile of donkey poo, lol. Not important but shows dedication. Lol. Anyway I can’t do many of the test listed due to lack of equipment or fear for my life if I hurt her stone. It barely scratched with a knife and has a green hue. Surrounded by common opal. I know this is limited information but it kinda looks like agate, but I’m not sure and I want to clean it for her she is Mrs ooo shiny. Lol any help is appreciated.

It looks just like a rock I got from Stone Age Industries. They called it an Oatman thunderegg.

Thank you that looks very close, and we were near Oatman. We put it under black light white parts fluoresce orange, green part nothing.

Yes looks like chalcedony with weathered chalcedony on the ends. Knife should leave metal on the rock. Clean with high pressure washer at self car wash. It may knock off loose pieces so be sure to get permission. Since she found it in poo I guess the taste test is off the table:)

If indeed a knife blade will make a mark it isn't agate. I think Mtngorrila is probably close, and it's potch opal, probably from the inside of a nodule that has weathered away. A lot of the Richardson Ranch opal eggs have waterlines like that.
