Yep....I'll be part of the Community Task Group tonight and tomorrow night.....Got the memo and request from tonight's City's Sheriff Watch Commander at noon....could have given me a bit more time lol, but that's how they roll........They know I'm familiar with the area and (more often than not) willing to support.
Obviously, the prolonged "red flag" warnings here (and everywhere within the Southwest), the "let's make shit happen" crowd, has given reason for concern.......Fireworks of any kind are completely prohibited in this City......have been for years.........I'll be dealing with the habitual Hispanic trailer park residents in City central, who have a history of burning down their own places to sleep.
Only difference this time, we have more leverage.........last year, in this location, we lost a life (resident) and damage to structure(s) was(were) way above prediction..........many of these "villages" are over 35yrs old and not maintained to current building standards......what's new..!
Anyway........gonna take a nap in a few and get ready to coordinate my (and others) patrols...........been here before........camera's and communication devices ready, just need to round-up feet on the ground.....I've been warned legal resources are thin, but better than last year......lol

Good luck and stay safe...I really do hope people are smart enough and care enough for other so you don't have to report a thing.

Stay safe. Thanks for serving. We can hope that some people would just decide to grow a brain. However...

Thanks for the encouraging words.......all is/went well.....!......just a little sleep deprived.....LOL
Saturday night started off a little hectic due to vehicle coordination.......even though this exercise had been planned well, in-advance and wasn't something new to most of us, each of the vehicles on patrol had to be "gov't" issue and include either construction/police type overhead light bars...and the designated drivers had to be current gov't (City/County) employees, an insurance issue.......we had the drivers/assigned passengers per vehicle ready, but lacked motor pool. Seems someone dropped that ball, short three vehicles and all of them needed fuel.......lol.....Sunday night we were well prepared.......LOL
The routine, this year, was a little different. Due to last years being underbudgeted, undermanned, less prior night "high visibility" vehicle circulation in the historic problem areas.........our coverage territory this time was less time consuming and closer together. Made for response times to activity much more surprising for those caught "red-handed"......lol....and we caught a few "red-handed".....
Dispatch had a hot-line we worked from......we were instructed to only engage if calls came in clusters within the same locations. So, we'd confirm and role to the sight as if a resident coming home, and then once upon the subject(s), turn on the flashers and make lot's of noise......lol.......all of the vehicles we used were public works trucks and a few suv's....nothing obvious. Police cruiser's and a few local Fire guys in the area were only called in if suspects needed to be detained, cited, or otherwise if we felt threatened or harm was eminent........our crew experienced none of that either night. Our job was to make our presence known, let the violators know they were being watched all night and continued activity would result in confiscation, citation and arrest.....! It worked pretty well, just as it had in the past.......... They knew we were taking down addresses and vehicle license plate numbers because we did it in front of them.....we never asked for names or identification and our cameras were highly visible.....on purpose.......lol.
There's always the apprehension of driving up to a sight where the possibility of "armed" individuals could be present........most of us who have experience with this are licensed concealed carry. such was the case this time and most of us know the surroundings and social environments quite well, that's why they call us in when short handed........Some of the drivers were kind-of green, but they knew their way around and were very helpful.
Sunday night was more of the same.......we believe that the prior intervention put into this week-end helped a lot.......many of the "village" managers had received flyers and or had been visited by local law enforcement a few weeks in advance..........the word of mouth is still powerful, although Sunday night we had a few more brazen "bad boys" than Saturday........over all, to my current knowledge, nothing burned down. Most of the culprits we dealt with were in small tracts of homes on dead end streets........not much in the villages this year.
So, back to normal.....I'll catch up on the sleep.....maybe......lol
